Any Northern Californian's want to sell handguns?

I hope this isn't rude or against the rules, but I'd like to make some private party handgun purchases from others in Northern California to avoid the "one handgun every 30 days" rule (it doesn't apply to private party transfers). I'm not intersted in doing anything illegal and would make any purchases through an FFL. I'm interested in the following: Kel-tec P11 and/or P40, CZ75 9mm, Makarov, and compact double-action .22 semi-autos such as FEG, Astra Constable, Bersa, etc. (Walther PP/PPK-sized, but less costly). If anyone has any of these they'd be interested in selling, please e-mail me. Thanks.

Since you have to go through an FFL and fill out DOJ papers, I would think the 30 day wait would still apply. I am in Kali too and I agree the wait thirty days is bull$$$hit.

Doug are you sure the "one handgun every 30 days" schtick doesn't also apply to private purchases, especially if they go through an FFL?

That 1 handgun every 30 days law is such a joke. All it does is inconvenience folks who would never do anything wrong in the first place.

I think it is primarily aimed at stopping people from buying up a bunch of guns in anticipation of new gun laws and bans. We may have a couple of months notice before a law is passed. Now the mechanism is already in place to prevent law-abiding citizens from increasing the number of guns they purchase in response to new legislation. It really pissed off the liberals when they learned how many new guns everyone bought during the last two years of idiocy.

No, I don't believe in ever selling a gun once I own it.

I'm pretty sure the "one gun every 30 days" rule doesn't apply to private party transfers. My FFL didn't know this until I checked the "fine print" on the regulations and showed him. Unfortunately, I believe both parties have to be present for it to count as a private party transfer - which rules out buying from private individuals in other states and such.

DougB,
I believe you are correct. That is my reading of the DOJ bulletin on the subject (it's posted on the DOJ web site).

Hey, wait a minute! I thought that the new legislation that took effect on January 1, 2000 was that you were obligated to buy a handgun every 30 days. It's the ninth month, and I only bought 6 this year. I was worried that I wasn't following the letter of the law. :)

Maybe I should send Feinstein and Boxer a letter to this effect...

lunde,

Yes, you are correct. The CA law covering the sale of handguns specifically states that we MUST buy one handgun a month. I'm trying my damnedest to obey the law! :) :)

Greetings,

I have a confession. I bought a shotgun one month instead of a handgun. Last time I'll do that.

Lunde, Isn't tax relief so responsible gun owners can keep up with their one a month obligation one of Gores targeted tax cuts? ;)
