any lefthanded CZ shooters?

Do you need extra long thumbs to operate the ambi safety on a CZ85?

Can you manipulate the decocking lever on a PCR lefthanded or is it too awkward?

Can the CZ75 compact be fitted with the ambi safety?

Who makes lefthanded CZ holsters?

Any tips on lefthanded CZ operating procedures are appreciated.

Hey, Nice question, fellow leftie :) Welcome to TFL!

I don't have an answer, but I too would like to know if a CZ Compact can be dudded up with an ambi safety. I've learned to use right handed everything else on a pistol.

Good luck with getting an answer!

I hear you. I'm a southpaw also. Looking at the CZ85 slide release and safety, it looks like they could be transplanted onto the CZ75, no problemo.

There's just one thing...I don't know whether I could manipulate left handed controls! I've been shooting almost 30 years. I learned on right handed pistols and rifles. I release the safety by rolling my thumb around to the left and release the slide with my left forefinger! Even though my 92fs, BHP and 1911 all have ambi safeties/decockers, I still roll my thumb around to the left side to come off safe!

So, since that's the case, what would be the point?

An ambi safety should fit any CZ without problems. There is no difference in the fit job between an full sized gun and a compact.

To opperate left handed, just use your trigger finger. It is actually easier to drop the magazine and slide release with the trigger finger than it is to use the thumb. Jeff Cooper once had a Korth auto made up with the slide release and mag catch on the right side just for this reason.

Many newer brand guns have the slide release located much farther to the rear, so it's a little awkward to use the trigger finger. Kahr, Glock, Walther, FN, Mauser, and Steyr are a little too far to the rear.

Most holster makers offer holsters for the CZ guns, and all makers offer them in left hand versions. Some of the new Kydex holsters don't yet offer much in left handed, but will sooner or later.
I know that Bianchi, Safariland, and Galco do.

Im a leftie too and I use my trigger finger to eject my mag and release the slide lock on my PT100. I could change over the mag release but like it where it is. Of course my Taurus has the ambi safety/decocker so thats not a problem with me.

A few observations

The full-size CZ85B already comes with both an ambi-safety and ambi-slide release lever. Every CZ75B in .40 S&W caliber appears to be shipped with an ambi-safety. This is NOT so in the usual 9mm chambering.

As to the compact models, Mike(the gunsmith) at HQ in Kansas can install an ambi for you at modest cost. He apparently knows his way around an action tune, also.:)
