Just womdering how the IGOLD went and if there were any updates on the recent assault weapons ban proposal.

IGOLD IMPRESSIONS
I have never attended a ISRA Lobby Day in Springfield. Wednesday was my first one. I think I probably had the same thoughts a lot of gun owners have had—"Ya it’s a nice idea, but will it make an impression".
I also thought as many gun owners probably thought that it was like David going up against Goliath! I was wrong. There were over 1000 gun owners down there. It was a fantastic showing of strength.
Right now when all the pressure has been going on over the phones by we guys, a thousand of us show up and are facing them in person saying we mean business. It was like the whip cream on the sundae. I’ll tell you another thing too. We felt like Goliath looking down at David!
I could not walk 30 feet anywhere between the Stratton Bldg. or the Capital building without seeing an IGOLD button or shirt on somebody! It looked like the militia had arrived in great numbers. I got to talk to my Representative and just missed my Senator who had to go to a meeting. I was assured and I know from fact that he is completely on our side.
Mike Weisman and myself even talked one of the security people into joining the ISRA. We explained to him who we were and what we were defending. He wanted information on how to sign up. If you really could in no way make this day, that’s understandable, but if you really could have and just blew it away, you missed a great opportunity to flex some muscle.
The people that took the time to go down there were doing your job, working in your place and talking to your legislators and you really owe them some thanks. I would love to see this grow so much that we have to use a loudspeaker outside where the media has to do a news clip about us. It’s not going to happen till each and every one of you decide next year you are going. The only way we are going to grow is if you are not absent. The snowball is rolling so next year jump in and make it bigger and bigger!

This was my first year as well and I was equally impressed by the numbers. I got to speak to my rep for a good 15 minutes and debate her on concealed carry. She's a very moderate republican from the North Shore and simply fears guns, but I'm going to do some follow up with her and provide her with some more information (she didn't seem to know there even was a concealed/carry bill in the pipeline). The most disturbing thing was she didn't believe any women in Illinois would want to conceal/carry or cared much about their gun rights. If you can pass her info along to women you know who could write or call her and POLITELY tell her they want cocealed/carry, it would go a long way. Also, if any of you are LEO's, she really respects your opinions, especially if you're in our district (Glenview, Northbrook, Wilmette).

Her name is Elizabeth Coulson and here's her info:

Thanks guys.
I couldn't get down there because my littlest one decided to get a fever which spiked to 104 when it wasn't hovering around 100.
But I appreciate your going, and with luck maybe I can join you next year.

Thanks again.

Keep up the good work down south.
Looks like we have a pretty good showing this year, hopefully our voices will be heard and SB0016 is smacked down.

You guys and gals that went are the BOMB!!!!
I couldn't go either but wish I could have. I have been making call and trying to do my part from home. My rep and senator say we got a good chance to stop it.
