Any ideas for grips for a Colt revolver

The time when I'll be able to pick up my Colt Police Positive Special is coming up fast (July 7 or 8). I absolutely hate the grips that are on it. They are the ugliest, biggest and most uncomfortable hard rubber or plastic monstrosities I've ever seen. I'd really like to get some Colt wood grips for it or some ivory (probably fake ivory as I don't have the money for real ivory) but I've been unable to find any sources for grips for this gun. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

I'd really like to get the new grips before I get the gun so I can have the entire package that I want. I really hate the grips on the gun and would rather not shoot it with them even once if I could help it.

Greeting's chaim,

You're in luck based on personal experience. I removed the
original Colt target grip's from an early 70's Python, and
replaced them with a set of Herett's Shooting Star's.
As it turned out, it was one of the best moves I ever made.
Too me, it made the Python feel more like a Smith & Wesson;
therefore, my shooting of that particular gun improved.

Best Wishes,

if you are talking about that slick gloss stuff with the raised checking on it in a sorta reddish hue...that is real wood, it is just the finish the put on it that makes it look plastic.

my current favorite grips come from hogue, if they are not too big for your intended use

Look at my Grips

I stopped production of my grips in 1979 and have dug them out of 23 years of storage do take a look as I am selling them at 1979 prices.

The attachment shows a K-38 5 screw but I have one left for Mk1&2 and 2 left for MK3

At my site check out my COM (Colt Officers Model) frame the same as the Python.

I am elderly and am in poor health so am selling out
