any have issues with PMC 223 ammo?

hello all,
I have an accurized DPMS sportical with a Nikon Prostaff 3x9x40. I've shot a number of different rounds out of it since I've worked on it and have had excellent success with it out past 300 yards(even with wolf) but on my last coyote outing I was all over the map with PMC 55gr FMJs so I hunkered down and tried to shoot some frozen apples off a tree at 120 yards and wasn't hitting anywhere near point of aim. after getting back home I loaded up some wolf 55grs and they all hit MOA at 100 yards. has anyone else had issues with PMC out of their AR15s?

Not sure which PMC line you have. I get about 3000fps from PMC Bronze 223. They also have an M193-like load, which should run a little faster. Accuracy will depend some on barrel twist and velocity. Regardless, PMC Bronze is not match grade, but I found its accuracy to be equal or a little better than the other bulk 223 out there...from my rifles, in the lots I checked (a couple years ago), about 1.5-2 MOA. YMMV.

If I found a batch of Wolf 55gr hitting 1 MOA, I would run out and buy as much of that lot as I could.

Shooting apples off a tree? Please be sure of your backstop.

shooting into a slight decline into a draw, backdrop is frozen dirt and thornbrush.
I dont recall what line it was. all of my ammo is stuff that I bought out of some ladies basement that had been sitting in ammo cans for 10-15 years. some of the federal XM193 is showing a great deal of tarnish so I've been reluctant to try it out but the PMC(comes in orange and white boxes) and wolf looks grand spanking new. I try to avoid wolf since I dont want to take the chance of snapping my extractor but there was some misc boxes of it mixed in and I figured a few boxes wouldn't hurt, now I'm kicking myself for using most of it up hitting "tinker" targets at 50-100 yards.

That is old PMC ammo, and does not reflect current production. So, you got what you got.

If Wolf ammo snaps your extractor, it was going to snap off anyway. Get a spare extractor, good idea to have one anyway.

Not really related to the less than stellar performance of your PMC ammo, but curious- what all did you do to accurize your rifle?

it has a badger ordnance rifle length stabilizer handguard and a rock river 2 stage. other mods include a M4 buttstock and a hogue pistol grip but I doubt they have much to do with accuracy.

May be just because it is old. I remember when it first came in country in a plain white or brown box. It was so thin and cheesy my AR ripped the head off in extraction. I think the newer stuff is pretty good, although I have not used the .223 for a while.

I'm pretty sure that about sums it up. when I bought all of it I wasn't expecting great results but I guess when I started getting it with some of the more unlikely stuff I got bummed when the less unlikely ammo didn't work out the best.
