Any H&K USPc 9mm Shooters Here Or Do You All Have The .40 ?

During my recent trip to the states both myself and the wife fell in love with the USP compact in 9mm, strangely we both preferred the blued version over the stainless which is reported to be being discontinued anyway. We both agreed that with the possible exception of the P239 in 9mm it would definitely be our weapon of choice.

A final judgement proved impossible however because no matter where we looked, noone had the 9mm for testing, I tried one in .357 Sig and was put off by the excessive blast and recoil, it seemed like everyone we spoke to that owned one had the .40, so if anyone out there has the 9 compact I'd be keen to hear your views especially if you've had the opportunity to fire the .40 as well.

Mike, I have never shot one but I was in a local gun shop yesterday and they had one in there, it was used but you couldn't buy a new one that looked any better. After fondling it, I fell in love, I came home smiling and told Gunslinger guess what I got to fondle, which he knew because he has been wanting one, we looked several different places when we were shopping for a new 9mm gun a couple of weeks ago but couldn't locate one. So I knew when I came home bragging about what I got to handle this would frost him, don't get this chance much but I take advantage of it when I can. LOL I will not say what he had to say. LOL I really wanted to put it on lay a way, but with the new house project we really didn't have the money. Maybe santa will be good to me. :) I have heard they shoot very well and accurate so my advice to you, hold out till you find one, I wished we would of.

I have one! I was thinking either the USP9C or the Sig 239 too, but I found this great deal on a used USP...

It shoots quite nicely. I won't comment on groups, since hanguns aren't my speciality. Recoil is very controllable, accuracy seems pretty good IIRC. (I really need to take more trips to the pistol range :p) Mine came with the extended floorplates, which seem to make it a little more comfortable to shoot, but it may not be comfortable for people with larger hands. Some people complain about the backstrap checkering, but it dosn't seem to bother me.

I haven't had a chance to fire a .40 version, but I've heard that the recoil is worse than the USP45C.

Mike, I have a HK USP Compact in 9mm w/ 13 rd mags (I live in Finland, not USA). Nice gun to shoot, accurate and reliable. Works w/ all ammo I have tried (FMJ, JHP, JSP), from moderately mildly loaded to hot ammo. Fits well to people with different hand sizes. Has all the features of a full-size service gun, while size is compact (but somewhat thick compared to length and height, just like Glock 19 and many other polymers also). 9mm USPC has been adopted as service pistol by some German police units as P10. The grip checkering did hurt my hand a bit first, but I used sand paper (just a little), and now it feels nice (the checkering still looks like it was, but does not hurt any more). I also took my gun to gunsmith for trigger work, and polishing the action made the trigger somewhat better. Nowadays gun factories do not hand finish the actions (at least for standard models) any more, so trigger job helps at least a bit with most guns, HK is no exception of that. Ossi

Mike, I own 2 9mm USP's - the full size and the Compact model. I really like them both.

I very good friend of mine bought a 40 Compact so I have had the opportunity to shoot it several times. It does shoot well but **IMHO** I would still suggest the 9mm over the 40 - in any pistol. I feel that the 40 is what I call a "marketing caliber". The 40 doe dnot have any significant advantages to a 9mm with premium ammunition. The 9mm is easily controlled and you have the option of shooting inexpensive ammo for plinking/practicing -or- using a premium self defense ammo for "application" type shooting.

Every single one of my pistols are 9mm.

Oh yeah, I also liked the Sig 239, si i bought that one too.

The HK USPc is still my favorite and my daily carry gun.

Good shooting.

While I don't own any USP's, I have shot the full size USP 9, and the compact .40. I liked both, however, have settled on the compact 9 for myself based on various issues including the fact that you can still find 13 round hi-caps (standard caps) for the compact 9, but not the .40. While I don't have the gun yet, I do have 3 mags waiting for it. I've seen the guns new for 575-600 at gun shows.

Have a USP 9mm, bought used...went out looking for a new USP9, and there it was. Price was what I wanted to pay, and it looked like it was new, even though it was one of the early ones. I like the 9 , esp. when shelling out for ammo, (pun intended). Conrollable recoil for double taps, ample supply world-wide, and rounds are available for plinking or defense.

Accuracy is... well better than I can shoot. I can still keep a full mag inside a 3 X 5 card at 10 yds, which is pretty much all I think I'll need.

branrot, you're saying you can get high-caps for the USP 9mm compact????

How is that when the Compact version came out after the 94 ban?

Please fill is in.

That's very interesting, considering the USP Compacts came out way after the ban.
