any expirience wih Contender Hot Shot barrels ??? a new truck gun ???

I've got a quite extensive Contender collection, but no Hot Shot barrels...

my local builder buddy & I have been talking about a best / ultimate truck pest gun ( I live on a farm ) & I used to carry a GP-100 in my truck for those occasions that I find a skunk etc. wandering up my driveway when I'm returning home.... well, after I got my permit to carry, I thought the 357 truck gun a bit redundant, ( plus it wasn't the optimum gun for that purpose )& took it out... however I've not "engaged" the last couple skunks I've encountered, both because it was dark, & I didn't want to get close enough for a good hit with my snubbie...

so I had been considering a 10" 45 colt / 410 barrel... I already have a 16" 45 / 410 & love it, but a handgun version that would fit in the arm rest would be even better... we had been thinking about adding a good tactical light to either the fore arm, or barrel, & I'd be thinking it'd be about perfect...

well, we shoot enough 410 around our place ( my wife has an old CZ folding 410 that I bought he for her birthday last year ) & being a reloader, I've been wanting to reload shot shells... & have been talking with my buddy about doing brass shells via 444 marlin... which sorry for the long post, but that is where the 44 hotshot barrel comes in...

thoughts about the barrels ??? deepening the chamber & loading 444 shot loads ??? shooting skunks with a 10" shot barrel ???

I had a 10 inch vent rib barrel in 45/410. it didn't shoot 45 Colt worth a crap but with the 3 inch 410 it will do darn near anything a 410 shotgun will do. I think there was too much freebore because of the long 410 chamber for the 45 Colt

when you could still get the HOT SHOT capsules in 357 flavor the Contender with a choke tube was my ultimate squirrel gun. Haven't used a 45/410 yet but I figure it should work fine..... especially if you rolled your own shotshells

Contender Hot Shot barrels ??? a new truck gun ???

The 10" Hotshop barrel I have seems to have a tighter 'group' than my Judge. Neither of them are that great at any distance. I don't have any firearm that I would leave in one of my vehicles overnight. I'm not concerned about rust, I'm concerned about some jerk taking it when I'm not around.

I have a 10" .45/410 barrel and and used it only a little. It is certainly no long range shooter, but is perfect for the purpose you mentioned. In fact, I believe that may have been the original purpose for that barrel. Rodent and pest elimination.
