Any chance of fitting an AR barrel to AC556/Mini-14

Is there any possibility of threading/fitting an AR barrel blank (without barrel extension) to a Mini-14? Is it possible to get AR barrel blanks without the gas port already cut into it?

Unless you find the contour you like you may be best to get a blank and start from scratch.You can tap the gas hole and put a plug in it if you go the AR route.

Many AR Barrels are chrome lined. A large number of aftermarket barrels are not; and the ones available for the AC556 are not chrome lined. It sure would be nice to be able to put a slightly heavier, chromed line barrel on my AC556 - looking for any possible way to do this.

Contact Elysium barrel makers. I'm sure they can pull an AR barrel off the production line before it's drilled and tapped. Alternatively, they can thread a barrel for a Mini-14. http://elysiumarms.com/

Thanks Gary, I checked them out, but it seems like they don't produce any chrome-lined barrels. At least that's what I could tell from browsing around their website.
