Any ammo to avoid with the Remington 870?

I could not imagine a pump action being picky on ammo. Is this correct?

Is there any ammo that could potentially be a problem?

I saw some 12 ga. Imperial mfg. BB shot (High Brass, Commercial mfg.) for about $39.95 - 300 rounds.

Is this good ammo and/or a good price?

Don't know about the ammo you listed but in general pump guns aren't picky about what they fire.

however they may be picky about how they pattern with various loads.

Just make sure you don't shoot shells that are longer than your gun allows
example

870 express 2-3/4" only

870 express magnum 2-3/4" or 3"

870 express super magnum 2-3/4" , 3" or 3-1/2"

You can shoot shorter shells but never longer than allowed.

Your barrel and reciever will tell you what is safe.

I steer clear of off brands. Most of it is safe enough, it's often not consistent.

Never heard of Imperial, no surprise there. Bet it's imported.

BBs are a bit hot for practice, look for something like an oz of 8s in a "Dove and Quail" load for economy, lighter kick and cost.

My 870 Police Model with factory 7-shot extension does strange things with the Winchester Reduced Recoil Buckshot. This ammo appears to have an aluminum case instead of brass. After firing one shot, the action will not open on the first attempt - only on the second attempt.

870 Loads

The Mexican made Aguila extra short 12 ga. slugs do not function reliably in any of my 870s, or my 1960s era High Standard for that matter.

They are nice loads and accurate, but just too short to function a pump reliably.

FWIW

No real ammo to avoid except maybe that goofy Dragon's Breath stuff. Short-length shells may also cause problems.

It's hard to nail down any brand because shotguns tend to pattern differently with the same ammo... even sequentually numbered guns.
