Antique Colt Revolver-1857?

Previously posted this to the BP forum.
Maybe should have just posted here??

Just returned from my local SCV meeting.
One of our members donated a colt revolver.

He said it was an 1857 36 caliber

Stamped on top of the barrel is:
Address Saml Colt Hartford Ct..
Serial number stamped on several pieces: 64738

Revolver is in pieces, but all seem to be accounted for
BARREL IS FAIRLY RUSTED..

Can anyone help to identify this by serial number

Any help appreciated.

There isn't a 1857 Model Colt. If it's a .36 you have several choices.
First would be the 51 navy.

1861 Navy, see the difference in the shape of the barrel lug and loading lever system.

Both of these are holster frame size revolvers.

Next possibility would be the Pocket frame revolvers.

1862 Police Pocket.

Pocket Navy.

Any of these close?

1857 Colt??

thanks for the pics..............

from them and the other bp forum, I will assue that it's an 1851 navy with a later production year.
