The ATF is accepting public comments on an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rule Making (ANPRM) regarding the application of the definition of a "machine gun" to bump stocks.

Before you post, please scroll down below the comment box and read the Supplementary Information, particularly Section III which is the actual request for public input. The ATF is asking for public input with respect to 23 specific questions along with comments about the costs and benefits of the regulation as well as the methodologies to be used in determining those costs and benefits.

As is common with requests for public comment, all comments will be read, but only those that are responsive to what the agency has asked for comments on will end up being passed to the attorneys and technicians working on the proposed regulations. This is an opportunity to have input to the actual people who will be proposing future gun regulations, so please think about what you want to say before submitting it.

If the comments are going to be sorted for content/context, how would a person be certain that the comments aren't also sorted relative to other content? IE: positive vs. negative.
