Ok guys, looking for a semi auto for some skeet shooting. Maybe once a month or so, so I dont need anything crazy, just something better than my Mossberg 535 pump.

So heres the 3 options I got lined up.

I will gladly take any insight you guys have on this, but if you could, please post reasons why its this gun over that gun. Id like to have actual facts on one over the under, or things that you dont like about the guns.

You said you want something better for Skeet than your Mossberg 535 pump. You're probably aware of its definite disadvantage when shooting doubles. For a quick second shot, autos and O/Us are the way to go. Yes, some folks shoot pumps, but not something with a 535's 3-1/2" chamber. Every time you shuck your 535's cob you're adding another 1-1/2" of travel over a target pump with a 2-3/4" chamber. Common sense tells us that a longer stroke is going to take more time, everything else being equal.

It appears that you've done what many others have, too: searched the catalogs for what seems be a bottom dollar, but acceptable target gun. Do yourself a favor, if you're going to be shooting Skeet, then get a Skeet gun. If you get a bottom dollar field auto, you'll become aware of it's short comings in Skeet, too. With 40+ years of Skeet shooting experience, if I were in your shoes, I'd be looking to pick up a used R-1100, Beretta 390-type auto or a Browning/Beretta O/U Skeet gun. Your best chance of finding one might be at a gun club bulletin board. A big advantage of getting a used gun locally is you can test fire it first, something you can't do with an on-line purchase. I agree with most of what Zippy said except the part about not using the pump gun. I've always shot skeet with OU's and auto's until one day I came across an 870 20 gauge LW w/fixed IC choke. I was thinking Doves when I bought it so I took it to the club to shoot a few rounds of skeet and I was hooked!!!! I have come to absolutely love that thing!!!!

There is more than enough time on the doubles to pump it and still hit the second bird at your break point. I have even taught myself to catch all the empties except the first shot on the double.....
 
Assuming all three fit you equally(not likely), I would go with either the Remington or Mossberg. The CZ at 7 lbs. is a bit light for target shooting. Make sure you go handle them before making your decision.
 
That long LOP of the CZ will be OK if you shoot only in the summer. If you intend to shoot skeet with a heavy jacket on, that 1/2 inch will make a difference.
 
Zippy, I understand your point, but my lack of time at the range is keeping me from dropping big bucks on a shotgun with minor differences.

Before yesterday, the last time I hit the skeet/trap range was ~6 months before then.

And while I did shoot with my pump most of the day, I realize it CAN be done, Im just not that good to pull it off at the moment.

Ive done some reading, and the CZ seems to have some history of the firing pins snapping and causing kB!'s, although those seem like mostly older causes, I couldnt find anything recent about the problem.
 
I have shoot skeet with a Mossberg 500 and have gotten doubles and was shooting with people that got $7000 skeet guns and keeping right up with them. I just bought a Saiga 12 semi auto and will do skeet with it. I just like having fun cause that is the name of the game.
 
I used to own a Mossberg 930. It was a great gun for the $400 I paid for it. I upgraded to a Browning Silver and the 930 was sold shortly thereafter..
 
For Skeet only id lean on the 1100 over the 11-87, if you ever plan on hunting though the 11-87 is what I would lean for. The Mossber is more of a hunting gun and the CZ isnt to bad. Its well priced and a good shooter for a budget shooter. I would lean on the Remingtons but they are more money so the CZ would be my coice for under 500 bucks
