No, I think, letting Clinton be indicted, let him hang for a few months and then pardon him is a good strategy as it
would make the point and also degrade him.

On the other hand, a trial would keep him in the public eye for a long time. The competency of the GOP to go against Clinton in a dynamic fashion was shown at the impeachment hearings.

Clinton would probably win and become a poster child to energize the Democrats.
