Four Killed in Texas Gun Battle
PLEASANTON, Texas (AP) -- Three law officers were slain Tuesday night by a suspect who lured them to a mobile home with a 911 call, authorities said. The gunman also wounded two other officers before killing himself.
Two Atascosa County Sheriff's Department deputies and a Texas state trooper were gunned down with a high-powered rifle in the ambush south of San Antonio, state Department of Public Safety spokesman Mike Cox said.
``I don´t remember anything like this since Waco,´´ Cox said. ``Except that there´s really been nothing where there´s been so many officers killed in Texas in my memory.´´
The deputies were killed as they approached the home, Cox said. The suspect, who was not identified, then grabbed a pistol from one of the officers and hid in nearby brush.
The trooper was killed as he pulled up in his car, Cox said. The suspect continued to fire at officers from his hiding spot, eventually killing himself with the stolen pistol.

As of this morning on the Radio the call was a 911, seems to be a straigt up ambush form what is being said by DPS, the shooter did himself with one of the deputies guns. The only mistake the shooter made was killing himself 1 day too LATE.

Well it looks like another nut-ball has ended the lives of yet more
innocent lives. I can already hear the attack on "sniper" rifles coming
from the other side.

Three officers killed
By Carmina Danini and Lisa Sandberg

Three law enforcement officers, including a state trooper, and a
suspected gunman were killed late Tuesday in the wake of what was
believed to have been a domestic dispute in Atascosa County, the
Department of Public Safety reported.

At least two other law officers were wounded.

“It’s very disturbing, It was a very bloody scene,” said Clyde Ross, a
Bexar County deputy who had gone to the location.

The identities of the dead officers and the suspected gunman hadn’t been
released early today.

The wounded were identified as Carl Fisher, 60, an Atascosa County
deputy, and Pleasanton Police Officer Luis Tudyk, 30.

The two wounded officers were airlifted by helicopter to San Antonio’s
University Hospital, where early today they were listed in fair condition.

A hospital spokeswoman said one of the men was shot in the right
forearm; the other was wounded in the left arm, wrist and hand.

Law enforcement personnel from at least three counties had conducted a
search for the shooter, authorities said.

Information early today still was sketchy but the shootings were said to
have occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday about 25 miles south of San
Antonio.

“They’re looking for a fellow with a high-powered rifle,” Pct. 4 Constable
Glenn Riley of Pleasanton said during the manhunt.

Pleasanton City Councilman Abraham Saenz said law officers were
scouring an area near Interstate 37 and Texas 97.

Carlos Benavidez, who lives three miles east of Pleasanton off of Texas
97, near where the shootings took place, said residents in the area
weren’t allowed to leave their homes.

“I heard some shooting at 9 p.m., but didn’t think much about it until a
neighbor called to tell me some law enforcement officers had been shot,”
Benavidez said.

Roads leading into and out of the area were blocked and residents
couldn’t leave their homes, Benavidez said.

1) Sounds like there is or was some confusion about who and how many
shooters were involved.

2) Note the reference to “high-powered rifle”.
