Another Taurus tale

Two months ago, the Taurus rep was at my favorite gun store. He showed me the instant backup revo. Nice little gun. I ordered one. Every time my gun store orders the gun, the supplier (accusport) sends a 905. Wrong gun. I don't think taurus inc. knows that they have the gun, or accusport knows the gun is available. Even the guy at the gun store who orders the guns said he "never heard of such a thing", when I first placed the order.

I am going to take this as a sign from the heavenly gun angel that watches over us gun nuts, and assume that taurus isn't on the "A" list.

Your dealer orders it from a middleman, the middleman orders it from Taurus and the fault automatically lies with Taurus

Is there no chance that either the dealer or the supplier is forgetting to add those 3 extra symbols (I-B1) to the order.

Why would the dealer keep going through the supplier and not call Taurus to fix the problem

Please realize this:

Any time a "middleman" is used to go between a dealer and manufacturer, you WILL get screw ups, some quite big. This goes for just about any product you order, from computer parts, to insoles, to guns, to ammo :D

Now.... when the supplier keeps sending the same thing over and over.... then again.. one of our main suppliers of shoe stuffs is JUST awful, but they make it right.

What model # is the gun? On another thread, somebody said that the only 22 revolver was the Tracker series on the Taurus website. I looked for the M-94 using the gun selector and got the same results. Then someone else corrected me and and told me to look under small frame revolvers and there it was. Taurus has a habit of advertising new guns that are not available yet and applying old discontinued model #'s to exsisting models according to my gun dealer. If this gun is a 38 let me know- I love 38s.

I have read several postings on different fora about people actually having purchased and fired the 9 mm instant backup revolver. So they are out there in the distribution channel.

"Another Taurus Tale" Stange topic for a first post....Hhhuumm? I don't know what model your talking about either. My dealer has ordered a PT-92, Millenium Pro 9mm, Tracker 627, and a 85 Ultra-Lite, and every last one of them came in as ordered. :D

Now do I give Taurus 4 stars for that, or do I just have a dealer who knows what he is doing? Another Taurus Tail, or another dealer tale???

Taurus products are in transition right now. Some of the old have been discontinued, and some of the new are not available yet. I've been trying to get a Taurus Ultra-Lite 450 for a couple of weeks. It's a discontinued model, but they are out there. Knowing what the company is doing, what is discontinued, and what is currently available makes it easier when making a gun purchase... ;)

Distributors don't make orders for a single item from the factories. Your distributor most likely was mistakenly sending what they had in stock instead of what you wanted.

Something isn't right looking at the 905 backup and the standard 905 they both weight the same shouldn't the Titanium come out a lot lighter.Looking at them can't tell the two apart probably same picture was used.I just got a 905 last month great little gun but don't expect to much in accuracy I figure about 30 feet after that kinda questionable. At 7 yards about dead on at 15 yards a good foot off.

Reference:Blame?

I'm sorry. Did I say that I blamed taurus? I wouldn't know who to blame, but I've been buying guns for oh, forty years or so. I know how it works. My store did call taurus on two occasions. Whomever they talked to couldn't/didn't fix the problem. Take the whole thing for what it's worth, or not.

This is not my first post. Just the first on this fine forum. Thanks for the advice.

Talking to Taurus on the phone is similar to other companies. It all depends on who answers. My job forces me to call/talk/meet with people on the state/federal level as well as companies. Some are extremley helpful while others should be doing George Romero movies. Think back to how many idiots, slackers,I don't care types that everyone worked with over the years and you get the idea. No company is perfect.
