Another Shield

Purchased this 9mm yesterday on the recommendation of a friend and after some research on the net. Put some hand loaded rounds through it followed by some Hornady 124 grain factory ammo. I prefer the 8 round magazine as it fits my hands better than the 7 round mag. I'm hoping this one will prove to be a good choice for CCW.

Mine so far has been perfect. I've been searching for a replacement of my long gone Sig 239, and I believe I've found it in the S&W Shield. I tossed about 50 pills down the line in mine today as well.

You'll love it.

Great choice, I carry a Shield 9 for my EDC. Great gun to conceal and with the right ammo, good as anything else!

I shot my friend's 9mm Shield and liked it. Couldn't find one in 9mm, only .40 so I settled on an XDS 9. I'm very happy with it even tho I cost a bit more. Good luck with your new pistol. tom.

safety

I don't get some folks do not like the safety on a CCW. Does the safety cause problem in a CCW gun even if you don't use it? Does it inadvertently engages itself? What is the concern?

Ive been reading so many good things about this gun, I think I'll pick one up for myself. What are some good holster for a smaller gun like this? I use Alien Gear for my larger guns and love them but wonder if a smaller gun would do better with a smaller holster.

love my shield .40, little beast of a gun, as for holsters here are the 3 I use for different task
Flashbang Ava

Flashbang Betty

Blackhawk

Subhuman does that second one just work to cover the trigger so you can stuff it in your pocket. How obtrusive is that?

it is a single clip kydex shell with a retintion adjustment screw, I carry it appendix, 5:00, or clipped into my cowboy boots if I'm somewhere I shouldn't have a gun, if you have big pockets you can spin the clip side ways to help it snag in the pocket or simply take it off and back the tension screw off and use it for a pocket holster but the shield is a little big for most pockets it can be done though. I took a Serpa 2 off of its paddle and pocket carried a G23 in it in the pocket of a loose fitting pair of shorts one day just because :D

I cannot speak for others, but the reason I don't care for a manual safety on a small carry gun is that I have large, wide hands. It's no problem at all for me to hit the thumb safety on, say, a Beretta 92FS, but trying to manipulate a little bitty safety on a little bitty gun in the heat of having to draw in sudden self-defense is not something I'm comfortable doing. I'd rather just have a good holster and practice good trigger discipline when it comes to a carry gun.

Shield is a no brainer. Very flexible little gun. Several good cleanings and alot of dry fire practice smooths out the trigger ALOT. Everyone should have one in their collection.

Good choice. I've regretted selling mine since I let it go. Excited to pick up one of the new ones without thumb safety. I should be all set to pick it up after my next paycheck on the 15th.

I've owned just about every popular handgun on the market today and I've really come back to the M&P with Apex trigger parts. To me, it's the best trigger available on a striker fired gun. I prefer it to the PPQ(sold) and VP9(tried, didn't buy).

I still like Glock well enough. The Gen4 G21 w/ 15rd mag & TLR 1 HL is my nightstand gun, but my preferred carry is the M&P 45 midsize.

The Shield will be an excellent addition for those times when I can't carry a full size gun.

LockedBreeched,

I do understand your preference of no lock in a CCW. I have 2 Shields (a 9 and a 40) with lock and when I do not want to lock it I just don't flip up the lock. What I am curious to find out is if the lock will inadvertently locked thus causing a "safety" issue.

Love my shield, over 2k in less than a year without one issue (the last 500 being cast reloads)accurate, easy to carry, priced right...what more could one ask for???
