another scope question

Ok so as i am sitting in my deer stand over the weekend looking at nothing i started playing around with my scope and range finder looking at different distances and then seeing how well i could see them with the scope. I set out on a tree 250 yards away with the range finder and then put my scope on it. now when i was at the range dialing my scope in i set it on max power and i could see the target well enough to see where the bullet was hitting. Now as i am on low power i am looking at this target at 250 yards and i i could make out every thing very easy. Is this a possiablility that my scope is going bad and staying on high power all the time? My second question is that If you sight your scope in for 100 yards on full power at low power is are the cross hairs still on for 100 yards? I had an 80 yard shot on a doe and at low power it seemed as i was looking at her 100 yards away and full power was just way to close. if i would of shot at low power would the point of impact of been the same as if i was on full power?

Good scopes do not vary point of impact with magnification changes, some not good scopes do.
The answer is, your scope SHOULDN'T change POI but it might.

as far as i know its does not have the paralax adj. The scope is a bushnell banner 6-18x50 and it has the focusing eyepiece and it has the adjustable objective. on the end it has a big ring that goes from 20 yards all the way to 400 yards with different marks you can change it to

That IS the parallax adjustment.
It is harder to reach from shooting position than the "side focus" scopes now popular, but it is a better adjustment optically. Don't depend on the yardage marks being right. Turn it until you can move your head around behind the scope without the crosshairs moving on the target and you will have eliminated parallax AT THAT RANGE.

I would recommend putting the scope on backwards. This will eliminate the looking too close problem and reduce parralax issues because the adjustment will be right in front of you instead of clear out on the end.

im not complaining about looking to close because when im at the range i use it to see where my other guns are shooting so i dont have to walk the 100 yards. but at the range i have to dial it to 18 to see the 100 yard. when i was in the field at 6 power it was like i was looking at 18 at the range. This is where i have a feeling the scope is finally going bad. I cant complain it was only 75 bucks at a gun show. It hasnt failed me yet(fingers crossed)!!!!
