Another Scattergun Tech Question

I've been looking at the Border Patrol model. The new shotgun price seems a bit excessive to me. Does anyone have an opinion on the Retro-Fit Customer Supplied Shotguns? $460 as opposed to $735. The only 870 I have is a 20 ga. Even if it were a 12, I wouldn't send it in for their Rem Steal b/c I use it for hunting. I'd have to put in a couple plugs to take it duck hunting then, haha.

ST does good work.However....

Most of the upgrades can be done by the average shooter and a good smith for the trigger work and forcing cone.

Your 20 will make a good HD piece as is. For increased pattern density and slightly less kick, have a smith do the cone, then try different loads to see what works for you.

HTH....

Well, I had a really old 870 which came back better than new for 200 bucks they rebuilt the thing, packerized it added an extension and new synthetic stocks. I was very, very pleased. Get an old clunker for cheap and send it in you will have a top quality end product, essentially the border patrol sans the wilson signature.

TY for the help, you two. Trying to talk someone out of their 2 3/4 inch stroke 12 ga 870 for cheap. He has the 3 1/2 inch too. Heck, it was free for him. People that lived there before him left it in the attic. Trying to pay him for something that didn't cost him a dime. Same way I came across my Rem 742 Woodsmaster. Attic treasures. Rusted, took some work to get it nice. Darn thing sneaks an extra round off every now and then.
