Another S&W Model 64 in SS question...

I picked a used S&W Model 64 in SS. It does not looked like it has been fired much at all.

The double action trigger is smooth and lighter than my 642. The single action trigger is very light...absolutely wonderful. Is the pistol like that from the factory OR had a previous owner had a trigger job done on it?

Thanks, Keith

64 trigger

Can't tell without seeing the gun, but K-frame revolvers use a leaf spring, and are routinely smoother than the J-frames that utilize a coil spring. I have found that the the smoothest revolver triggers out of the box are S&W K-frame revolvers.

I would see if the strain screw is tightened. The problem with lght single action triggers and lighter double action triggers is usualy, the strain screw has been filed or needs tightening or replacement.

Actually I am pleased a can be with the trigger as is...

my experience is with J frames...so that may be it.
