Gun Broker has a mod 14 6" S&W 4 sale. $400, some wear say's it's a 95 or better. Are there any volume of these around. Got a 38 chief from Dad, lots of senior members(here) say they are cheap and plenty (chief sp.). Does the same apply for the mod 14. Why? Because Dad also left me a box, with paper and screw driver plus cleaning rod, brush. Sooo, Iwould like to fill it with the hardware. Not afraid of a used gun, has character. But character comes at a price. Dad's chief has no more thn 50 rnds. Mostly mine when He got it in 72. It's difinetly 95-98. No wear on blue, wood still box new. What do you think.
p.s. If the guy reads this howdy!

Model 14's (K-38) are one of the more popular S&W revolver formats. Lots of them around. $400 sounds kinda high to me. I paid $275 for this one, but that was a couple of years ago.

If it has the target trigger and target hammer that's pretty close to what we pay locally, but still a little high. S&W's older revolvers are only going up in price though. Sorta like gas at the pumps, they may never get any cheaper.

THANX GUYS. Nice revolver Joe. That would be the one I'd want for sure. This one has posibilities, I have time. My hot list is that 460xvr and a used ruger .454 sbh. The sbh for 465 + and whatever for the S&W.
Thanx again

Supica's 2nd Edition of The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson lists a typical Model 14, new in the box (all papers, etc) at $375. If this example were pristine and in the original box it might be worth $400-$425 to account for the rise in prices.

Same book lists the gun in Excellent condition at $275 and V.G. at $210.

Given that he says 95% (not 98%) I'd guess that a good price would be between $330 and $350, depending on overall condition of the gun. It's hard to tell without seeing the gun.

Knowing what vintage M14 would have some reflection on the price. A pristine older model with the box and all the goodies can easily be that price in a lot of places.
