Another "mystery" 8mm Mauser!

Hi --

I am looking for history / origin for this 8mm Mauser.

It was obtained in 2002, and refinished by a friend of mine in the United States Marine Corps.

All parts, except the bolt, have the # 8223 stamped on them.

There are three funny looking "Q" symbols with a queens/kings crown on top on the bottom of the receiver, where the bolt folds down.

It has a double set trigger, that is VERY VERY light.

I've shot with Ecuadoran 8mm ammo, and it seems very accurate. I've attached many pics, and if needed, can take more.

Any help on identifying it?

THANKS!

The best pics, to identify it, are missing - but it may not be possible, anyway.

Those rifles best identifiers are the markings on the left receiver wall and the top of the front receiver ring.
What I can make out of the front ring top looks like all the military identifiers were ground off.

What I can see from the pics posted, is an anonymously-sporterized military Model 98 Mauser, that had sight work, DS triggers installed, the follower ground so the bolt won't hold open, and the military stock cut down, reshaped, & checkered.

The "funny looking "Q" symbols with a queens/kings crown on top" are proof marks - the "Crown over 'N' ", in your case.
