Another interesting movie: "Sunshine"

Very well filmed and acted. Not perfect but my nit-picking was limited to awkward pacing in a couple of scenes. Historic details seemed accurate though I am not an expert on the time and place.

Hey Oleg, was Col. Kotov's gun correct in "Burnt by the Sun?" How about the revolver Mitya killed himself with? I haven't seen the film in a while and was wondering the other day. I figured you might know of all people. Thanks.

I think that both of the guns were Nagant revolvers (can't recall the suicide gun, may have been a TT33)...either would have been correct.

"Sunshine" is a about a Hungarian/Jewish family from about 1890 to modern days. Wonderfully done film, though one of the characters is quite unconvincing for the 1950-70 time frame). Accuracy seened quite good though, and it is a strong film. Had a funny scene of boar hunting with a PPSh41 (which was badly done, not enough muzzle flash or recoil shown).

FWIW, I watched it with my parents. My Garand was set at the dinner table and everyone understood the reason (which was reminded to all by the film).

Another film I would recommend, maybe even more highly would be "East-West", also quite recent.
