"Robbery Suspect Dies from Gunshot Wound"

Boyle Heights: Hollenbeck Homicide Detectives are investigating the
shooting death of Alfredo Baltazar Jr., 19 years of age. On August 24,
2000, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Baltazar entered the G&A Market,
located at 3200 East 1st Street. Baltazar simulated a handgun and
demanded money from the store owner. The owner, in fear of his life,
armed himself and shot Baltazar once in the upper torso. Baltazar then
exited the market and entered a 1990 Chevrolet, Cavalier, which was
parked eastbound along the south curb adjacent to the market. Baltazar
then drove his vehicle two blocks east to the intersection of Lorena
Street and 1st Street where he collapsed inside his vehicle.

Los Angeles City Fire Rescue Ambulance responded to the scene and
administered emergency medical treatment. Baltazar was subsequently
transported to USC Medical Center where he was treated for a single
gunshot wound to the upper chest area. Baltazar succumbed to his injury
and was pronounced dead at 5:41 p.m.

Hollenbeck Detectives are conducting this investigation and are asking
that anyone with information regarding this incident to please call
323-526-3002.

Although seeing someone,or hearing of someone lose their life is not my idea of fun. He had it coming. Shoulda gotten a job, instead of trying to rip off armed store owners.

G&A Market --- Guns & Ammo?

Now we'll be treated to relatives and friends stating he was a good kid, worked hard, was polite, took care of his Momma, was getting his act together, was a good father, etc, etc.

Some times when you screw with the band, you are gonna get with the bass fiddle.

Your forgot the part about him being a nice kid, straight-A student and planting a rose garden.

I heard somewhere that the typical criminal, when averaging their income from crime vs. lost income from prison time, earns less than minimum wage. Sounds realistic to me.

The problem is that minimum wage is rarely a living wage, particularly if there are children. At least in prison, the state pays for the room and board. I guess some folks think its worth the risk particularly if the state makes sure that most of those store owners are disarmed.
