Another Glock Question

With the recent purchase of my Glock 27 and finding the trigger action quite different, and reading the post about the Glock safe action vs a cocked and locked 45.
How many of you carry a Glock and carry with one in the tube? I don't know if I can really trust doing that, Just as I will never carry a .45 cocked and locked. Several weeks ago I reported about a guy shooting himself accidently,It was done with a Glock, still cannot find out how the guy was carrying. It was in his waistband that is all we can find out. Maybe this Glock business is still to new to me yet
Just curious :)

One of my carry guns is a G26. I alway carry it with the chamber loaded. If this concerns you enough check out a product called Saf-T-Blok. I have tried it (don't use it) and it does work as advertised.

You could think of your Glock as a revolver which has no safety, and when you pull the trigger, it goes bang. It is important to have a proper holster for carrying any firearm. Fobus USA will be getting a holster designed for the G27 and other models the same size later this summer, a GL4. I'm on their waiting list for one. (The newer G27 does not fit properly in the Fobus designed for the 1st G27s.) My 2C.

I always carry a GLOCK with a round in the chamber. It's just the same as a revolver, only a lighter trigger pull.As long as the trigger is not exposed ( gun in a proper fitting holster) there can be no KA-BOOM.A glock only fires when you press the trigger to the rear.Just remember to keep your finger out of the trigger guard, and off the trigger unless you want to fire the weapon. It's much simpler to remember to use, than a cock & lock,Safety up,safety down etc. etc. etc.

I always carry one in the pipe, unless I just want to throw it in my pocket, in which case, I leave the trigger back (not reset).

If you have a quality holster, there is no reason not to carry it "hot." If you don't trust it, carry with the chamber empty for a while, with the trigger in the forward position (reset). At the end of each day, notice the trigger has not been pulled into the rear position, and you can conlude it would not have fired mistakenly.

After a while you will gain confidence.

I carry my Glocks with a round in the chamber, just the way I carry five rounds in my Taurus M605. They really do work just like a DA revolver.

I always carry chamber loaded. For you own piece of mind, try this:

Load a magazine, one round shy of full, rack the slide on an EMPTY pistol to set the Glock trigger where it will be if you were to chamber a round. Insert the mag and carry it that way for a week. (trigger set, mag in place, no round in the chamber)

If you manage to "dischage" the empty pistol inadvertantly, get a different carry gun. If not, chamber a round and be happy!

I've carried Glock handguns everyday for the last 10 years. I've always carried them with a round in the chamber in a holster that fully encloses the trigger guard.

The gun has never gone off by itself, and it never will as long as you keep your finger off the trigger and keep the gun in a holster that fully encloses the trigger guard.

I heard at the local gunstore recently that a local was killed as follows: He was driving his car with a Glock in a soft IWB. It is believed that he attempted to adjust the holster in his pants while driving. In any event the Glock went off severing a main artery in his leg. He bled to death before he could get help.

locknload, the Glock has 3 safties on it, one external and 2 internal. As long as the trigger is not engaged you are completely safe.

Hey guys thanks for the input :) I never gave the revolver connection a thought. I will carry with an empty chamber and the trigger reset and see what happens. I guess I'm just use to having my decockers :) and knowing that the hammer is at rest and all I have to do is pull the trigger. I will get a proper holster for it also, Will not carry without one.

When I first got my CCW, I was uncomfortable carrying with one in the pipe. As my confidence increased, I began to do so. Now, I carry everywhere that I legally can, ALWAYS chambered. Kydex holster and finger off the trigger. There is never any question in my mind about the readiness of my Glock.

Here we go again,

I use the safTblock and love it. It adds no time to your draw. Just remember to always practice with it. I carry in a belly band and sometimes I have to adjust a little to sit in car or what ever. I feel better knowing that despite my training and constant practice, if I should accidentally slip my finger into to trigger guard during an adjustment I won't shoot my ass off. The chances of that happening are very remote but since it doesn't hinder my draw and shoot I use it.

-To those who say "If you can't carry as is get another gun.
Glock has more to it then just it's trigger pull. If the 3 point safety is the only reason to own a Glock then it's really a lame gun.

-To those who say "according to Jeff Cooper", or "You lack proper training".
All that doesn't stop accidents, it just helps prevent them. Some people still enjoy having a safety as on a 1911 or simialr gun. If you think we should get another gun refer to the previous paragraph.

-To those who think that their way is the only way.
Get a life!

Nuf said. Peace and practice how you carry. It's the only solution to the different carry styles.

Thanks leed,I agree. What works for one person may not work for the next. But all ideas and suggestions are food for the brain. I may take a look at that safety device I've seen them advertised. When it comes to safety one can never be in short supply. I think in my case its just that I'm not use to it yet and it will take time and practice. I'm use to my DA decockers. As I said prior I have not been a big Glock fan but this one is growing on me. I like it and liked the way it shot for me :)

Actually, some of the Glocks, like the Glock 17, have 3 generations. They are all just about the same, mechanically. The 1st generation, which wasn't around all that long, had very little "checkering" on the grip. The 2nd generation, which was around the longest, had the polymer "checkering on the front and back of the grip, and roughened sides on the grip. The 3rd generation, which recently came out, has mild finger grooves on the front of the grip, semi-thumbrests on the side of the grip, and accessory rail on the bottom of the front of the frame. Internal parts on these are basicallay interchangeable.
