Very very nice, years ago I used to see these all over the place at decent prices but wasn't really interested. Now I want one but can't swing it right now, life's funny that way. Enjoy

I'd never much been interested in Colt revolvers. Smith & Wessons are my thing.

But a few years ago something in my brain snapped and I realized I wanted some Colts, so I started looking. I'd had a Detective Special, but I got rid of it years ago.

I ended up with this one, a ca. 1968 Official Police in the winter of 2012.

Under $400, and shoots like a dream.

Later that year I picked up Colt Police Positive Special in .32-20 to go along with my S&W Hand Ejector in .32-20. That one was under $400, IIRC.

Then, last year I picked up this cute little Police Positive in .32 New Police (.32 S&W Long).

It was also under $400.

Most Colt revolver prices haven't jumped nearly as far, or as fast, as the prices on comparable Smiths.

Whew! Not true in my world. While not as meteoric as the Python and D'back, the Colts I see offered have climbed significantly recently.

I would say Colt edges out the Smiths on price increases.
Smith still makes em, even if they have Hillary Holes.
Any decent Colt will cost you a pretty penny, even the not so pretty ponies are getting more $$ than they should.
IMHO of course.

I'm just not seeing it here in Northern Virginia among the common guns.

Yes, Pythons and Diamondbacks are crazy prices, but they always have been.

But Police Positive Specials, Official Polices, etc., generally haven't jumped in prices nearly as fast and as high as guns like Model 19s, Regulation Polices, or even Model 10s.

I have an OP made in 1968 (but looks older due to holster wear). Paid $175 on Gunbroker for it a couple years ago and then added the stocks at $185. It's sad when the stocks cost more than the gun.
