Polls like this don't give an even remotely accurate representation of popular opinion. These kinds of polls only poll people who care enough to visit the site and vote. And considering pro-gun folks tend to be fairly active in their beliefs, results like this aren't surprising.
But if you did an actual scientific poll in California, support for an "assault weapons" ban would almost certainly win in a landslide. After all, a real scientific poll done last year showed that 59% of Americans support a federal ban on "assault weapons", and it's safe to guess that California would skew even higher than the national average.
^ I don't know if I completely agree with this. Most conservatives and gun owners or "pro-gun" people aren't necessarily as outspoken as you may think. although the ones that are tend to be loud. I refuse to take polls political or otherwise. Other than posting my opinion on here with other gun enthusiast or social media, its not really some pollsters business how I feel about something. I'll vote at the ballot box and with my wallet. I refuse to arm people who would revoke my freedom with information. I've never been polled politically over the phone nor would I take it if I were to receive the phone call. I also believe that many pro-gun people feel the same way. Other factors include the wording of the poll, Confusion of the question, timing of the poll, who's giving the poll, the demographics involved and other factors. Even if it were put to a vote in California the wording of the bill would make or break it, with words like "Assault", "Weapon", "Military Style", "High Capacity", "Death". Many people are ignorant on a very simple level when it comes to guns.... or anything else for that matter, the masses are ignorant so the wording and rhetoric would make all the difference in a poll or a vote. I mean look at our current political landscape. Most people don't even have a grip on the our Constitution much less its brilliance or meaning. Ever since we nationalized Education under Carter we have been declining ever since. Ok... I'm going a little off subject but it's all relative to the subject. So even if 59% actually believed that the Fed should ban "Assault Weapons" is the number really accurate? If it is... How much of it's based on ignorance or lack of understanding of our Constitution or Liberty? Let's be real... I want what the military has. Why???? Because I'm a Patriot and the Government is supposed to work for us. Not the other way around. We the People should have the ability to defend ourselves against enemies both Foreign and Domestic including our Federal Government. Sorry for being long winded...
