I got home this morning and found that one of my buddies, a local small town police chief, had dropped off three boxes of Winchester Ranger .45acp Bonded. He also dropped off three boxes of Ranger 9mm +P Bonded. He wants my opinion.

This guy wants Winchester, all my talk about the Speer Gold Dot and Cor-Bons falls on deaf ears. He's a Winchester nut.

I had already recommended the Ranger T- series loads in +p, but someone gave him some hooey on barrier penitration. I have to ask the need, he lives in a small town made up of wooden buildings. He's says it's important. I don't in this case. Input guys, because I think he's better served with the T-series.

Ok guys, the question is, why would a small hick town cop need ammo designed for barrier penitration. To do that they have to give up something, like terminal performance. In this case the 45 acp Bonded is running 85fps slower than the Ranger T +p.

Was he was given "static" about Barrier Penetration, for or against it? Did someone tell him he NEEDED the Barrier Penetration, or did someone tell him he needed Ammunition with a Bullet that PREVENTED Barrier Penetration?

If Barrier Penetration was Needed, He's a LEO, he can get Ranger SXT's, aka Black Talons.

Trying to avoid Over Penetration? Why not try the Extreme Shock (frangible).

I can semi-speak for the SXT's, I haD some, and they are a Beast. But the Extreme Shock's price always kept me from trying them.

The Winchester T-Series is an enhanced SXT bullet. The 45acp +P is rated for 13.8 inches of penitration after hitting auto glass, 20 inches after steel. I don't see the room or need for improvment
