Another CZ 75 Question

What is the deal with the short plastic guide rod on my 75 Mil. Is it possible to get a full length one or at least a metal one. The short one causes the spring to bend because there is not enough support.

Thanks

Unlike the CZ 75B in .40 caliber, the 9mm CZ 75B is not designed for a full length guide rod.

The steel guide rod on my CZ-75 gets beat up pretty bad. Consider that piece sacrificial; either your frame gets the beating or the guide rod.

The mag brake can be bent flat without removal from the gun. Take the grip panels off, then remove the pin fron the upper part of the mag brake. Bend the brake flat, replace the pin and test. Try to do the bending with your bare fingers.

As MBOTT noted, the CZ-75B in 9mm isn't designed for a full-length guide rod.

(You'll notice that there's no opening on the front of the slide to allow a full-length guide rod to protrude when the slide is all the way back. It simply wouldn't work.)

To get a full length guide rod in a CZ75 you will need to buy a CZ75 Champion. They have a full length guide rod.

Nope.. the commercial CZ75B's (Non-Milsurp) chambered for .40 S&W have a full length guide rod, as do the CZ75B SA (Single Action Only) models...

No.. The only ones I know for sure that do, are the ones chambered for the 40. Sorry I didn't make that more clear.

I actually met destucto6

What he says is right. Disposable guide rods wear out and get replaced so your frame doesn't have to.

Regards.

The short plastic guide rod works as intended and indeed apears to allow the spring to bend out of control when you have the slide off the frame. However when the slide is installed on the frame, the dustcover of the frame keeps the spring and guide rod in line properly. If the pistol is not malfunctioning I wouldn't worry about it.. Plastic guide rods are used in many designs successfully.

Bandit,
Thanks for the clarification. My post was with regards to 9mm models and my 9mm CZ75 Champion has a full length metal guide rod.
