another concealed carry question...

Cuz

I live in South Louisiana (35 miles from the end of the road an the Gulf of Mexico), summers can be as hot as 103 with 90+% humidity. Winter is very seldom cold, maybe 3 days a year below freezing. What would be the best possible way to carry under these conditions? Now keep in mind,Im a thin framed person, and my normal attire is boots, blue jeans, and a t-shirt that is usually tucked in.I work out doors also if this matters. I think a fanny pack is out of the question, and would probably draw more attention, and I dont feel that a holster in my boot is such a good idea unless its my only alternative. My carry pistol would probably be either a Glock 19 or a Ruger P90.
Maybe a smaller pistol would be a batter choice? and if so, which? I prefer to carry a 9mm or bigger if this helps any. Thanks, Cuz

You have some pretty strict parameters there CUZ. Seems to me the fanny pack is about the best way to go.

I live in Houston (same weather basically) and am also tall and lean and also "tuck" when I dress. That doe snot leave a whole lot of options for carry. When I'm dressing casual, jeans & shirt the fanny pack is what I use. If I'm going out to dinner in slacks and a dress shirt I often will wear a vest over the shirt and carry my Walther PPK/S in an IWB which is nicely concealed by the front of the vest.

You will find that you may have to alter the way you dress just a bit to accommodate carrying - and also have multiple weapons for the various dress modes.

Looking forward to hearing more suggestions from others in a hot and humid environment.

Cuz,

I live in Atlanta and work in an environment where guns are normally seen. I normally dress in coat and tie and carry a Kimber Ultra Elite .45 in a pager pal. However, I am also able to wear it with jeans and dockers. It was recommended that I carry a Kel-Tec 9mm. Truth is the Kel-Tec would be easier and ligher to carry and conceal a 9mm Kel-Tec in a Pager Pal.

I am 5' 8" and 180. As CMOS noted, IWB holster is good but one has to alter the way you dress.

Good luck in your choice.

Pager Pal, Thunderwear, or untucked with an IWB style holster. I live in NE FL, and the summers here are brutal as well. I've had a FL CCP for 10 years, and have just about settled on the untucked/IWB option. You can get banded polo style shirts from Lands End if you want a "neater" look. I carry a Glock 30, or a Colt Officers Model in a strong side or appendix location, or use the Thunderwear option if going to the beach or out in the boat with no shirt. For awhile I was carrying a Smith 640/.357 in an appendix carry, but got tired of the vicious recoil and went to the Glock. A little more bulky, but alot better for control, as well as firepower. Good luck.

IWB & go untucked w/long(er) T-shirt. You may have to forgo your fashion statement (i.e. dress for CCW) in order to properly conceal.

Summers here in CO & I do the sandal, t-shirt & cut-offs bit & no worries, mate.

Too, I hate an untucked shirt over the BHP. Draw is not natural although is does conceal very well.

BTW, I'm 5'17"/180 - pretty sleek (not skinny - sleek! ;)

My favorite method is IWB + a very light windbreaker only tagged with the velco strip at the very bottom. A quick sweep & I get a very natural draw & total concealment.

San Antonio here. Hot!

Two methods:

1. Consider a J frame - 642 in the pocket.
Not your choice but a reasonable and
you can always do it.

2. Glock 26 or Kahr 9mm in a IWB. Buy an
XL large polo or even XXL. Flop it over.
Or a t-shirt with a big floppy covering
light shirt that is kept open . Works
for me for several years here.

Pager Pal with a Kahr MK9 works very well with tucked shirt in jeans or slacks. A good belt really helps.

Cuz,

1st you figger out which gun you don't want to leave home without. Then you structure your wardrobe around concealing that. I personally carry a G19C and here in central FL, that generally means the t-shirt comes untucked in the summer! If you switch to cargo pants like Royal Robbins, you can fit a baby glock into the front pocket of those...one of the guys I hang out with does that.

Definately go IWB. If you don't want to untuck, wear a light short sleeve shirt open as a cover garment. I have a safari type shirt with a square tail and four pockets I use just for this. If anybody was to ask, I plan to say I wear it cause I need the pocket space. But, to this day no one has questioned it
