Another compact 9mm thread

I had narrowed my choices to the CZ75 and EAA, then noticed that CDNN has Baby Eagle compacts listed for $280. Looking at dealer websites, the EAA goes for $320-$360, and the CZ's go for $400-$440 or so. This gun is intended as a car/purse gun for my wife. She does not want to wear a holster, so weight isn't an issue, and neither is slimness, so full-capacity is indicated. Compact just so it will be easier to fit in car center console or purse. I'm both poor and cheap, so price is a BIG issue. My wife isn't comfortable with a gun that is loaded and cocked, so DA trigger is indicated. Right now she has my Hipower, unchambered. Not interested in Glocks; just don't like 'em. So here's the questions:

1. There is no doubt the CZ is the best and prettiest of the lot, but is it $100 worth of better than the other two?

2. Considering that both the others are Tanfoglios, is there any real difference between them (except that Baby Eagles are uglier'n hell)?

3. More basic question: I suppose the only way to lower the hammer on a DA/SA gun with no decocker is to try to control the hammer with your thumb? I used to do this with the Hipower until my thumb slipped once. BANG!

Yep, you decock a DA/SA pistol that has no decocking lever by thumbing down the hammer. Not a problem on the CZ as it has a firing pin block. Just don't keep the trigger back the whole way.

In terms of quality, the CZ is most definitely worth the extra $$$.

A gun that would equal all these three and at a better price yet is the FEG P9RZ.It's a real nice shooter, has an ambidextrous safety and decocker and holds 10 rounds of 9mm(a .40 S&W 10 rounder can also be had.)You could hold one in your hands new for about $200.00.See "the dealer warehouse" ads in the shotgun news or go to www.centuryarms.com
P.S.it is not a double action only as century says, but is in fact a traditional DA/SA
