Another CCW Carry Question

I live in Florida, am very comfortable with my CCW, have been carrying for almost 4 years. My problem is that I drive a Jeep CJ5 that has no realistic option for gun lock-up when going into a "No-carry zone". I would feel that any LEO would rather have me keep my gun with me then leave it for easy pick'n. The so called lockable boxes you can buy that replace the glove box or fit between the seats are about a 3 second joke to any one with a screwdriver. Also with out a top or doors any one can easily see me removing and stowing my .45!! I am out and about all day and can not realisticly just leave it at home. How many would leave it or carry it??

How often do you go to an off limits area? Here in VA I just do go to the post office I don't go to bars police stations courts federal buildings it's really easy for me. I have been places less than leagl don't make it a habit.

I, too, live in Florida (don't you just hate this damn heat) and drive a Jeep. I've been using a V-Line security box bolted under my seat with extra long screws. While it offers only minimum protection, I consider it better than nothing and with extra long screws holding it in place, it would be pretty difficult to remove the box -- not impossible but difficult. But then again, I rarely go into "No Carry Zones" for a long period of time (an hour at most) -- usually it's either a post office or a church that has a school on it's property; so your situation might be entirely different. Additionally, when I know that I'm going to have to leave my gun behind, I usually start getting it off my person and under the seat while I'm driving (being careful so that nobody sees me handling the gun). This way, when I reach my destination, I just have to slide it in and shut the box.
