Obviously firearms and other weapons intended for criminal usage are readily available up north despite laws to the contrary.

The news about "biker related murders" has not recieved much press in the States, though you can be sure many equivalent American tragedies recieve international coverage.

Crime Reporter Shot in Montreal
MONTREAL (AP) -- A veteran crime reporter was shot repeatedly Wednesday morning in an attack in his newpaper's parking lot, but managed to call for help on his cell phone.
Michel Auger's injuries were not life-threatening, and he was in stable condition at a hospital.
Auger was attacked as he walked into the offices of Le Journal de Montreal. On Tuesday, the tabloid published a two-page spread written by Auger about recent biker-related murders.
Le Journal Publisher Paule Beaugrand-Champagne said Auger has covered crime for 25 years and has been threatened in the past.
''This is disgusting because it's an attack on democracy,'' Beaugrand-Champagne said.
The newspaper said Auger has always taken security precautions and had been taking different routes to work every day.
''He was extremely careful,'' said Beaugrand-Champagne.
The publisher said Auger was shot five times in the back.
Montreal police Cmdr. Andre Durocher said Auger used his cell phone to call 911.
''He was alert, oriented and in stable condition,'' said Eric Berry, a spokesman for the ambulance service, Urgences-Sante.

This could't have happened. Firearms are strictly regulated in Canada. Hence, Canada should have no crime. In fact, dogs and cats in Canada live in peaceful harmony, rose petals constantly rain from the sky, birds are always chirping joyfully, and bautiful harp music can be heard everywhere.

I wonder who the shooters were. They insinuate that it must have been the bikers whom they had just reported their acts of murder about. But yet, in spite of being "repeatedly shot" the reporters "injuries were not life threatening". Seems to me if it were the same bikers that were responsible for this wave of murders they could have done a better job of killing one lowly reporter regardless of the fact that "He was extremely careful".

Gunslinger

I was promised a Shortycicle and I want a Shortycicle!

This is pure propaganda. Guns are outlawed in Canada and therefore this really did not happen. On the off hand that it really did happen, highly unlikely, but statistical burps can sometimes happen, atleast nobody else stooped to the level of the shooters and defended themselves. They can all be very proud of themselves and should proudly display their scars for all to see. We should all take up a collection and mail the reporter in question a bright and shiny star to congratulate him on his refusal to stoop to the level of criminals.

From Vancouver, B.C., Canada:
A couple of weeks ago, the lone occupant of a rented house was found by a 'friend' with a couple of large bullet holes in what was left of his head.
The RCMP reported that although a 'small marijuana growing operation' was discovered inside the house, they do not believe the killing was connected with the pot.
Now..isn't that comforting, particularly as the house is about two blocks from my house.
