Another Black Bear question?

Anyone have experience hunting/shooting Black Bear with the 45ACP? Say a 230 grain Federal HydraShok? Is it enough for close shots over bait from a tree stand?

This is not for hunting...

I asked a similar question to the Hornady Tech's, as I hike in the Cascades of Washington. I have two boxes of Hornady's .45 ACP, 230gr FMJ-FP ammo.

Would this be a round to cary in a Colt 1991A1 .45, for possible used against black bear, they indicated that it would be as the FP would transfer more energy and being FMJ should penetrate.

I have carried but have not the opportunity to use it. Thank,God!

Would I shoot a bear with a .45 ACP if I was going to end up broken and bleeding if I did not - you bet. That is what I carry when I am bow hunting (black bear country, not grizzly country).

Would I purposely go hunt with a .45 ACP? No. Way better options out there for hunting.

I'd say you would be under-gunned. If you decide to do so use FMJ ammo.
