I recently purchased a Marlin 336CS in .30-.30. I am taking it out to the range on Friday to try it out. Do I have to go through a break-in procedure with a lever-action rifle like I do with my bolt-action rifles? The Marlin manual which came with the rifle makes no mention of breaking-in the barrel.

I've read/heard alot of barrel breaking in. For everyone that says it is helps improve accruacy/cleanability there is another that says it makes no difference.

Myself, I "break in" every new gun. Why... well though it is a PITA if there is a any possibility, however slight that he improves accruacy why not. It takes a few hours at the range. Kind of like... a bad day at the range is better then a good day at work.
