Another approach to fight gun laws

It's tough to change laws once they make the books, but they can be changed. I'm an old biker and was ABATE member. We repealed the helmet law here. Why couldn't same tactics be applied toward gun laws? Local chapters with reps from each chapter applying pressure directly where it's needed. Local meetings, getting to vote on actions, equal representation.

DoubleJ,
I agree 100% with this method, but it requires organization and focus.
One of the problems I see with this approach to gun laws is that there seems to be too many different opinions as to what is the most important one to go after first. There’s the CCW crowd, the NFA bunch, the “Assault” weapon squad, the State’s Rights crew, etc. ad naseum. Everybody seems to have their own idea of what should be fixed first, can’t agree on how to go about it, and seem to want everything fixed at one stroke of the pen. And then there are those (I would imagine some of our “younger” members) that seem to feel that open, armed rebellion might be fun.)
The whole thing has gotten too big and complex to expect a “magic bullet”
solution. It’s going to take organization, education, perseverance and time to accomplish.
Face it, there are many truley frightened people out there that support the anti-gun groups because they don’t understand what guns are all about. Talking about armed revolution, “blowing away” BG’s and JBT’s or SHTF and Zombie scenarios isn’t likely to change these people’s minds of thinking of us as anything other than a bunch of whackos. (A perception that the anti’s foster and encourage.) Unfortunately, it only takes a few vocal extremists to foul what the rest of us are trying to do.

Deadin, I agree. Lots of types to consider. And the , what I'd call "Alamo" plan of open armed rebellion would be a disater. But the idea of having each group represented might help level the playing field and let in some fresh ideas. Seems like we're stuck in a rut trying to deal with so many new rules. While busy facing one problem, another set of rules gets thrown at us. Even the ATF is behind. Sometimes takes them 6 months to get out new regs. That's 6 months we'd been in the wrong before they let us know. Pretty discouraging sometimes.
