OK.. like recommended by others here... I went by my local shop and played w/several 9mm handguns... as I'm looking to add one to my collection.

The ones I looked at were
New guns:
FN Hi-Power.. new version of Browning HP (DA/SA) $579
FN Hi-Power compact... same as above only a bit smaller. (DA/SA)
FN Forty Nine in 9mm (DA.. actually had a very smooth trigger) $309
Wather P99... nice gun, but a bit pricey and I wasn't all that impressed w/the fit for me. ~ $649

Used:
IMI Baby Eagel (w/3 15 rnd mags)... asking price was $499... this gun fit great, felt great, but only concerns were just what type of condition the gun was in. Looked and felt good and tight, but I get hesitant buying used f/unknown source

I'm considering trading in my ANIB Glock 31C w/night sites and wanted to know what opinions on the guns I listed would everyone prefer. Does anyone have any experience good/bad w/the Baby Eagle?

As always.. thanks and much appreciation for the advise.

I have a Baby Eagle full size steel frame in .40. Pay $400 for it new. They are very nice guns for the money. I like the polygonal barrel, grip, looks, and low bore axis. It's a very accurate gun. It's hard justifying the high priced guns when something this good costs so little. I wouldn't buy a Glock, I hate plastic, or a SIG as long as the Baby Eagles exists. If you want lightweight buy a Beretta 96 Elite 2, or the Elite 1A that is coming out soon.

FYI, Fobus is now selling paddle holsters for the Baby Eagle line. They don't show them on the web page so you have to call them to order. I just ordered mine.
Also, I think I just saw a full size Baby Eagle polymer frame with rails for the first time.

If your interested cdnn investments has compact 9mm jericho's which are identical to the baby eagle 9mm compact. Comes with one 10 round mag, NIB $279. Mark

The Baby Eagle's are good pistols, but not quite as good as a CZ75, which is about the same price.

This based on my very limited experience.

I like mine....

I have a BE in 9mm and really enjoy it. It's well-made, reliable,
accurate and loads of fun to shoot. Also, easy to take down and clean. I think they are a very good buy for the money. $499 seems to be on the high side for a used BE, but they may be charging a premium for the hi-caps.

Polymer Baby Eagle

I purchased a Polymer frame Baby Eagle in January.
NIB w/two 10 rd magazines,cost me $389--it is 9mm
I have fired 175 rounds through it. It shoots well and carries well. I like it very much and at $100 less than I paid for my Glock 27 it is a really good bang for the buck. I feel much safer carrying it with a round in the tube than I do with the Glock.:p

I have a full size Baby Eagle in 9mm that I have put about 3,500 round through, and I am extremely happy with it. It is very accurate, has great ergonomics, and has been 100% reliable (with the exception of two jams during the first 200 rounds). I think the BE is a great bargain, and would definitely recommend it to anyone. I paid $400 for mine, new with one 15 rd mag. That said, it is up to you to decide if it is worth $500 used.

I think $499 for the Baby Eagle is on the high side. I think they are good guns, reliable and accurate. The only think I don't like is the skinny slide; not enough to grab on too for racking the slide.

A local gunshop has a clean used Baby Eagle 9mm with two 14rd mags for $350.

If everything is in like new cond. I think it is a fair price. Mine was 450 new with one mag (15rd) So you have at least $120 worth of extra mags if they are factory
