I am just curious how many people may ANKLE carry an XD9/40SC, and if so, which one are you using. I've looked around and have not found much of a selection.

Let me explain further.

My primary carry is the Ruger LCP in my front pocket, which I absolutely love. However, when the pocket is not possible, I am looking for a holster that will fit my XD40SC, AS WELL AS a j-Frame revolver, and my newly acquired Bond Arms Derringer (Snake Slayer 4). Now, my hope is to find an ANKLE rig that would work for all three.

Let me know what you are using, but I am looking to get something that will accommodate the XD9/40SC frame. If it fits the XD40SC, then it will fit the Derringer too.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your time.

I ankle carry a similar sized Glock 26. I'm not normally a fan of plastic/kydex, but the Fobus ankle holster is outstanding. I also have one for a J frame S&W 442. Your handgun absolutely will not fall out even though there is no thumbsnap. About $35.00 and no wait.

Ankle holsters ICK! :barf:

They're hard to reach, impossible to walk around with, and inevitably make a big lump on you pants leg. Even for a backup, and inside a boot it's a cheesy option. Yeah, opinionated as hell, but I'm RIGHT! :D

Actually, you're wrong on 2 out of 3, and half wrong on the 3rd. But that's okay, I'm 'passionate' about my opinions, too. ;-)

To the OP:

A gun ON you -- no matter how it's carried -- is lots faster than one left in the car or at home. So you should carry however you want, includng ankle (which in some cases is the ONLY way some people can, for assorted reasons). Just adjust your TACTICS to fit your mode of carry (whatever it is) and you'll be fine. People often forget tactics -- that's 50% of the complete self-defense 'equation,' if you will.

BTW, I use Uncle Mike's ankle holsters...have now for about 20 years or so. They're fine and at about $30 each (and IIRC, they come in 4 sizes), having to buy one every 10-15 years or so is not bad at all. Or, get a Kramer ankle-holster ($253 presently) and it should last a lot longer. ;-)

The smallest gun I carried (and still sometimes do) ankle-wise is a Beretta 21A. The largest guns that I've carried (and still sometimes do) is a Zastava M88 compact 9mm and Tokarev T33...those are about max for ankle-carry, size and weight-wise (boot-cut jeans preferred for more room there). Still, in an Uncle Mike's nylon ankle-holster they are VERY comfortable and I carry them ALL DAY LONG, and sometimes forget they are even there. No complaints from me re: comfort. And IMO, if I can not carry a gun COMFORTABLY, I won't carry it.

Here in TX we ONLY have CC, but when OC gets here, I will carry my 1911 probably, which for now is an OC-only gun since FOR ME, it's too big and heavy for me to conceal COMFORTABLY. For now, though, ankle-carry is fine and is MY preferred mode of CC.

Good luck,

-- John D.

Fobus ankle holster is too big for ankle holster to my opinion.I would use UM with outside cover. It's not hard to reach your gun,it takes practice ,you will find the way to draw your gun fast.
