I AM PISSED!!!
The local sheriff of METH County, excuse me, Osage County of MO has made a statement about an alledged thief and a weapon found in his home that WASN'T the thiefs. The gun is a Ruger 10/22 fitted with a "silencer." The sheriff said "this weapon has no civilian use" and "is able to penatrate bullet-proof vests".

More later guys and gals!

Let me know what you think!

I'm back with more info about this tounge-in-cheek-while-head-is-up-the-ass statement from the sheriff.

The gun was unfired and stuffed in a closet of the "thief's". The "thief" has been accused of 13 felony counts of burglery including his own mother's business.

Now more about the sheriff:

Okay, this guy has been accused on several occations of taking bribes and such then tries to clean up the county. However, an arrest record surfaces that he got busted in high school for peddling drugs, BUT the charges were dropped (I wonder how  ). So, it's time for more crackdowns on crakeheads or so the press release stated. The guy is a joke (and a Democrat :p ).

After the Shall Issue passed in MO Oct. of 2003, this guy held out for 11 more months, denying the people of METH...Osage County their right. He was, however, re-elected to four more years of public relations work...sorry...law enforcement for the county (he ran unopposed).

I sure am glad that I'm leaving for the Marine Corps. in 2 and 1/2 wks 9for 5 yrs of service), but don't like the idea of leaving my little brother and mother in this place. So...the question here is should I come back (a few yrs down the road) and try running as a Rebublician or say to hell with this place move on?

Sorry about that last paragraph...a little personal frustration built up.

What do the good people of TFL think a law enforcement officer's job should be? LAW ENFORCEMENT or PR?

Let's see... A guy is arrested and charged with 13 counts of burglary. A silencer-equipped rifle is found in his house, and the sheriff makes anti-gun remarks.

For your own good, you need to stay out of California. This place would send you over the edge.

At least CCW is available in Missouri. If you cross the river the METH problems isn’t much better. I think everyone knows how gun friendly Illinois is.

Breaking the CCW license stonewalling by "authorities"

I live in Indiana, where years ago, it was standard operating procedure for the local cops, co. sheriff and state police to stonewall and deny law abiding citizens CCW licenses.

The drill was this: A guy applies for a CCW permit - it has to go thru the chief of police if a city resident or the co. sheriff if a county resident.
STEP 1: Chief/Sheriff throws application onto heap in corner of office; three months later, he checks the "do not issue" box in the recommendation section and sends it on to the state police.
STEP 2: State Police deny permit, saying that you "do not have a valid reason" for requesting a CCW permit.

This Bu77$hit went on for years - until someone who wouldn't take no for an answer hired a lawyer and sued his sheriff/police chief and the state police.
There were several violations of state law being comitted by the authorities in question; BY LAW, the sheriff/police chief has two weeks to conduct a background check of the applicant. If there were no psychiatric or criminal records found on the applicant, the sheriff/police chief is required BY LAW to send the application to the state police and recommend in favor of issuing the CCW permit.

The constitution of the state of Indiana guarantees all law abiding citizens the right to carry a concealed weapon for self defense; the real problem was at the police chief/sheriff level.

After the attorney b!tch$lapped the police chief/sheriff in question, a legal precedent was set and the floodgates were opened. Now it takes a maximum of 30 days, usually less, to receive your CCW permit. They are good for 4 yeasr and cost about $30 in fees to apply. Once you get your first CCW, renewal is automatic if you have "kept clean" record-wise.

If you can't get a CCW permit, get a lawyer involved; they aren't just for scumbags!

Just FYI, suppressors have been illegal in MO for a lot of years. Not excusing any idiotic statements by public figures, however.
