From the NYTimes today:
Mr. Pintat (PM) mentioned that Andorra had the world’s lowest unemployment rate (zero). Encyclopedias and almanacs add details that he did not: Andorrans have the world’s longest life expectancy (83½ years). Andorra has no navy — it is, after all, landlocked, although it has dozens of mountain lakes — and it has no army, either. Until 1993, it had a law requiring every household to keep a firearm that could be used to defend the country, said Joseph Altarriba, an aide who accompanied Mr. Pintat to New York.
Officially, Andorra was at war with Germany until the 1950’s. (Andorra was mistakenly left out of the Versailles treaty that ended World War I.)
