and yet another rifle idea...

Apologies if it has already been discussed, but I'd like to see a scout style bolt rifle set up to use the Garand feed system of en bloc clips. Scout style only because of the need for keeping the scope out of the way for loading. After the last shot had been fired and the bolt was pulled back, that familar "zing" sound, and you're ready for another 8. An odd rifle for sure but I think a fun one and an attention getter.

That distinctive "zing" would give you away in combat...kinda hurts the multi-role aspect of the scout. It also kills the concept of being able to top off the ag, or feed singularly, a benifit of many bolt actions and helps to make up for low mag capacity.

How bout' a scout bolt with a Calico 50 round .308 mag? do-able?

I never bought the whole 'zing' of the Garand giving off positions. Think about it. BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM ping. They already know where you are when you shot that last round. And then hurry up and reload.

I've never actually heard about anybody getting killed because of it.

A true Garand en bloc clip would negate a central ideal of the Scout concept--the tactical reload. Get thee to Gunsite.

I did not mean for it to be a true Scout. Only mentioned it as an example of where the scope could be placed for loading purposes as the offset method (a la M1D) seems pretty awkward. Perhaps peep sights would be better. I envision this item as a sporting rifle and fun little gadget not a fighter.
