quote:
Kristin Gore, 23, said at a rally for Gore that her father had helped her in many areas of her childhood -- comforting her when her dog died, attending her soccer games, and helping her memorize names of The Beatles' albums ``in chronological order.''

``He also was the guy who helped me study for my third-grade state capital quiz -- Seattle, I got it down,'' she said, clearly startling the large crowd. The capital of Washington is Olympia.[/quote]

Clearly Gore is the man for reforming our education system. :)

Not a fair assumption at all, and you should be ashamed of yourself....but....it's funny as hell, isn't it?

But when I met her, my own wife thought that Washington D.C. was located in Washington state, even though she knew Washington is on the West coast. I found that out because she heard me correcting an old friend who went to the same schools I did and thought the same. The world is scary sometimes.
(Yes, she's feeling much better and more knowledgeable now, other than the occasional urge to throttle me.) ;)

I ran into a teenager today who thought there were 42 states.

46 states, 4 commonwealths (VA, PA, MA, and one I can't remember), but effectively described as 50, hence the 50 stars on the flag.

She didn't believe there were 50 stars until we counted them.
