And still more archery questions (sorry)

1. What is the maximim arrow total weight that a 2" blazer vane will stabilize? Or, is it more complicated than that - i.e. does it depend not solely on weight, but also broadhead type, etc.? Is there at least a general rule of thumb to look at to determine where to draw the line in trying out short little 2" vanes on an arrow?

2. Again, still looking for recommendations for the fixed blade broadhead which has cut-on-contact, not chisel point, which flies the MOST true to field points...??? Prefer more than 1 and 1/8th width, but not absolute. I want uber accuracy/consistency to my practice arrows.

Comment...Redhead brand Blackout broadheads are the *exact* same thing as the G5 Striker, for $8 less a pack of 3 - just FYI.

I don't know about maximum weight, but I've never seen one that a blazer vane won't stabalize.

As far as broadheads go, you might want to reconsider chisel points. They help the broadhead to fly more like a field point AND they provide much better penetration if your shot happens to hit a bone. I use 100grn Muzzy 3 blades and have found no reason to complain.

I have used blazers on some dangerous game arrows that stabilized aroud 675 grains no problem. They are that good. As far as broadheads are concerned, try the G5 montec in 125 gr. Out of the package they fly like field points. And I have had some since they came out and they still kill every year. Hope this helps good hunting and god bless.

Amen to the Muzzy's. They are awesome. I switched to expandables when we had our first child 4 years ago for safety reasons. I currently use Rocket expandables. (got a 2yr old and a 4yr old...no matter how many times you tell them, they still jack w/ stuff. I don't want to deal w/ a sliced off finger.)A buddy of mine likes the 3" blazers, and swears his muzzy's fly exactly like his field tips.

You guys use 3 or 4 blade Muzzys? And do you use 100 or 125 gr Muzzys?

I didn't know Blazer made 3" vanes - thought they were all 2"...?

Sorry to bash your Muzzys, but I like the 125 gr. Thunderheads myself. I bought some when I got my new bow, and haven't needed to change. Just my humble $0.02. CB.
