And I thought they were just stoned...

Back in the late 80s my mom worked in a little rural restaraunt. The majority of the population were hippies that didn't want to let go of the 60s and a few ranching families like mine. Every Sunday morning, instead of church, there was a group of about 10 ppl that would come to have breakfast, usually stoned before they got there, and make plans for a world government idea they had. I used to listen to what they were saying and think they were crazy, I mean who would actually believe that someone would think a world gov't was possible? I was only 8 or 9 at the time but still I thought it was insanity and was just one of their bad acid trip hallucinations. I tried to picture my beloved US giving over its rights to some other gov't and could not imagine it, and let me tell you I had a very active imagination, it just seemed preposterous that we would do something like that. I thought that we had to much pride in ourselves to let something like that happen...Now it is barely 10 years later and I look around and see those same disscusions on cnn. How the hell can we even be intertaining such an idea??? How can we have put into leadership those same stoned druggies that I watched with disgust as a kid? But the most important question is, what the hell are we gonna do to reverse the problem? I refuse to sit back and watch as my beloved country crumbles in moral decay and lazyness! And I can also say something else, if ANYONE tells me to take off my cammie greens and put on a UN uniform, I'll shove that blue kevlar straight up their ass!

Yeah, striker3......but OUR leaders didn't inhale. ;)

I'm with you.....I CAN NOT understand this madness. :(

Would be nice if I thought more of our military peopple thought like that...but I'm a paranoid and trust NO ONE. I see our military forces in blue. Been hearing rumors about UN bases and camps on the states that have foreign armies occupying them- have seen photographic evidence of such.

So at this point: I'm just not sure. Since the military has allowed the gov to do things that are unconstitutional for several years now...I have my doubts about their loyalty to the Constitution.

sorry. Until I see the military and the gov acting to protect the interests of the States, I'll consider them suspect and traitors. Just like is done for us-guilty until proven innocent.

A one world government is not a bad idea, and I'm completely serious about that. Why should we not set up a government where people are protected from bullies and those who need help are given it? That's exactly what they want.

I'll tell you why: because human reality will get in the way. People hate each other for some of the dumbest reasons imaginable and will kill, rape, and steal because of it. The only reason that the middle east isn't glowing green right now is because they have borders and laws to keep out the people they hate. Look what has happened with Israel when the Jews came in to kick out the Palestinians. Putting the Sudanese under the same laws as the British and Japanese will create defiance the likes of which no one could imagine. The USA is ripping in some areas due to conflicts between Anglos, Hispanics and Blacks.

In a vacuum, in a laboratory, or on a computer, Globalism is a grand idea, but the human condition will get ya every time.

Liberalism (and globalism) is an ideology totally unencumbered by reality.

striker3: Some oversimplified history from the 1960s/1970s era of protest: Most adults in all political parties kept telling the protesters to not riot, to not try to tear down existing institutions. The idea was to work within the system to bring about change via ballot box and law.

So, a certain percentage of them did just that. Almost all of the Administration's inner circle came from, comes from, the hard core left wing radicals of that period. Others went on to advanced degrees and are teaching in our universities and high schools.

A glib tongue and an absence of conscience will get a person into political office, or ahead in a university career.

To reply to anyone's proposal to set up a world government... Please read Locke first... What ever power we gant to a goverment to protect us will be used against us. There will always be those amoung us who crave for power. Who will use that power to the determent of the people. It has always been that way and will always be so. Our founding fathers understood this principle, that is why we have the RKBA. As a balance of power between the people and government.... all government from our city council to the feds. It is we the people who are masters of the government. He who controls the sword controls. All of this talk of gun control is for one purpose and one purpose only. Control!

Government is a necessary evil. Government does provide benefits to the individual, but when the loss of freedom outweights the benefits then government is anti-productive.

Here is a simple test... take all the taxes you pay and compare them to the benefits you get from government. Assume that you are purchasing goods and services in the private sector. Then subtract (add to your tax dollar number) all of the harm that government has done to you personally. Those items that add to the cost for you to live. Have you ever had to get a bulding permit to build a simple chicken coup? If so add the cost of the delays and the permit and fees to your tax dollars. Are you getting your money's worth? Do you use enough government services to justify the cost of your tax dollars?

The debate is not about guns,
but rather who has the ultimate power to rule,
the People or Government.
RKBA!
