Anaconda query

I have a stainless anaconda (6" bbl, wood grips) in very good condition. It isn't drilled & tapped for a scope mount. I thought I might take it deer hunting, but I can't find much about these guns. Is it rare at all? Should I have it drilled & tapped for a scope or leave it be. Also how can I find out when it was made?

Not particularly rare, but i don't think they make them anymore. if they do it is form the custom shop. So no, I would not drill and tap, it will lower the value.

You can find out the production date by calling Colt.
They will give you a date over the phone, but NO other information.

The Anaconda isn't rare, but prices have been skyrocketing recently.

Production of it and the Python have been suspended for the last year while new production machinery was installed.
Production on both is slated to resume early next year.

There are scope mounts that do not require drilling and tapping the Anaconda.
B-Square makes one that uses the barrel vents to lock onto.

You can get this from Brownell's.
http://www.brownells.com

B-Square Revolver Mount. #122-125-300 Colt Stainless Mount. $70.00.

There are probably other no drill-no tap mounts. Ask Brownell's, they'll know what's available.

It's all supply/demand.

Right now is probably the best time to sell. Buy after the new ones start to circulate for a while. Problem is they don't sell well these days. Most shops aren't even interested in them because everyone wants to much. If you bought low and want to always have it, then keep it. You have nothing to lose except hypothetical $'s not in hand.
