Anaconda in 2006?

I've been reading all the threads on Colt and the Python/Anaconda. They're out of production for good, then they're coming back, then, no, its over. Does anyone have any idea what is happening with Colt and the Anaconda?? I won't buy a new S&W because I have an aversion to the unnecessary and useless internal lock. I just bought a Redhawk and I was disappointed with the quality. But I might like a new Anaconda. As long as they don't ruin it with a lock. Anybody heard any news?

Over at the Colt Bulletin Board, last time I asked, they believe that production will begin again as soon as Colt gets some new machinery. Personally I've owned a Ruger Super Redhawk. Probably the best built 44 I ever owned. Still I LOVE S&W's. I have six of them all different performance center guns. One vastly overlooked but excellent and inexpensive 44 Magnum is the Taurus Silhouette with CDNN is dumping. Wonderful gun. The Colt's I've seen, however, were, well, not all that well made.

I'm not fond the Anaconda or other "snakes" as I am of my Rugers or S&W's, they just don't seem to be as fine of guns as they ought to be for the price. However, the Python in a high polish nickel or blue.. *drool* That is a hard gun to beat :D

The only Colt snake I want is the Python, otherwise, I'd rather have an old school Smith or a Ruger.

Colt temporarily suspended production of the Python and Anaconda early this year, to allow installation of new production equipment.

Production is due to resume early next year, and rumors are flying about what ELSE Colt will be able to produce with a new revolver facility.

I sure hope you're right...

I would sure like to see the King Cobra, DS-II or Magnum Carry, Police Positive, etc., back again!

I just hope they come with a detached locking device like the Rugers. Not some goofy setup like the new S&W's. :( :barf: :barf:

My Anaconda is an amazing revolver. It's accurate, good-looking, and built like a tank. Everyone should own at least one...if/when the opportunity presents.

I will not digress into my Taurus opinions as I have no want/need for a hypertension spike...plus, you've heard it all before from others.
