An Old Copshop Sig P229

I picked up an old .40 cal P229 the other day. It has the E2 grips but is not the short reset variant. It does have usable night sights and a few minor handling marks on the trigger-guard & rail. Pretty decent overall and I'm happy.

11 rounds of Tula 40/180/FMJ fired SA at 25 yards, roughly half of which fired strong hand only from a bullseye stance. Fliers are mine. Black dot is roughly 3", spray-painted onto my 11x17 plate. This 229 will shoot.

I loaded a couple of mags from a bag containing .40 factory loads and reloads found in my 'catch-all' pile for that caliber. There were oddball JHP's, flat-point jacketed, lead truncated cone, lead SWC loaded to 850 fps and a few garden pest loads with that same bullet, going under 600 fps. It was funny to hear the light loads go 'Pffft.......ding' on the plate 25 yards distant. Those required manual ejection but the pistol fed everything thrown at it.

Looks good, I picked up a police trade-in 357sig last year and have been verry happy. I am looking at installing a SRT kit myself to help with the long reset. Congrats on the new addition.

229 in 40 is a sweet do about everything you need to do with a pistol gun. I got a used I assume LEO trade early pre rail one with E2s and both the short reach and the short reset kits installed for a good price, which ended up costing me more because my P220 now has a short reset kit in it.

It looks to be in great shape.

I just picked one up this morning that is also a P229 in .40 S&W with three 12 round Sig factory magazines. It came from the Opelika, Alabama Police Dept. Serial number indicates mine is of 2004 to 2005 factory vintage.

You and I should be happy campers.

After another 100 trouble-free FMJ rounds I decided to see what this P229 liked in a duty load. Five shot group fired standing unsupported at 50 yards using Federal 40/165/HST's.
