An odd pair

a few years ago i decided to buy a personal defense revolver but unlike many, I have spent my whole life shooting single actions so the natural selection for me was a S/A. I shopped around and found faults with many of the imports and/or some needed work right out of the box! I decided on a 4 5/8 Ruger Vaquero and paid my money down! I chose the .357 Magnum because it fit a long range plan surrounding the .38 Special.
For the personal defense part, i had the powerfull .357 magnum and the option of shooting economical .38 Specials.
Much to my disbelief, the ruger failed within 200 shots! Timing and transfer bar problems! I ate my words!
The revolver went back to Ruger for a fix and came back with all new innards, a full trigger job and custom tuning and fitting for the mechanicals! N/C of course.
I spent the waiting period discovering the joys of Blacck Powder revolver shooting! I was hoooked bad too!
When the Ruger arrived, I decided to boy it a Cowboy Companion, a Cobra .38 Special Derringer.
I had herd complaints about the Cobra Derringer triggers and duscovered that all one had to do is shoot the thing! After about 300 shots the trigger smoothed, the pull became predictable and even got easier! Now the derringer is just right!
As cool as a companion Derringer is, it is actially impratical in this day and age. Tou simply need more than 2 shots...
I shopped around and then fell in love with a Nickled Model 36 Chief with a bobbed hammer, making it DAO. I had to have it so now it;s my back-up and in some circumstances, primary carry
Kind of an odd couple but due to the speed of D/A, the little CHief is a deadly tool!
It's funny how you end up with different guns and why, but I realy think it's the one that you have a passion for!

In my early days of shooting, my pair was a BH .357 and a Nickel Colt Cobra .38. I felt prepared for most anything.
