An AR Jewell.....

Al Thompson

Staff Alumnus
Took the plunge and got a Jewell trigger put on my AR.

I am shocked. Have not hit the range yet, but dry firing is unbelieveable. Two stage, about three lbs., very crisp.

According to the directions, I can add poundage (or subtract) with ease. The spring end rests in a notched wheel on the left side of the trigger well. Lift the spring end and reposition it for adjustment.

Only external hint is the SS trigger.

My CAR-15 is next and I'm going to write Mr. Jewell and ask for a FAL trigger next.

Price was $ 185 installed.

Another great Trigger is the JP Triger. I have one in my DPMS 20' Bull barell. Trigger pull is about 2.5 - 3 pounds. I am not ecxactly sure. There is no movement and it is Black like the original :) Ajusment is a bit different than the Jewell. The JP has two screws, one in the front and one in the back. ou can ajust Take up and release point with these.
I did have one minor complaint. I had to take off a bit of metal from the sides of the rigger and about 1/8-1/4 from the rear where the safety blocks trigger movement. This made me a bit uneasy at first due to the very slight movement it takes to trip the sear. But I was able to get it just perfect in about 30 minutes.

I migh however try the Jewell in my other gun. I got the JP mainly bcause it was about Fifty Dollars less.

I've installed four sets of the JP trigger/hammer combos. All have gone in Bushmasters. I've had to radius the rear of the trigger bar, in order for it to clear the safety for the initial installation, but haven't had to take anything from the sides. You do have to fit the trigger bar to the safety, but the instructions are really clear about how to do that, and it's a simple task.

I've done 2 JPs and a Jewell in my ARs and one Jewell in my Mod70. All the ARs were a piece of cake but the Mod70 was a b*tch. All work very well, worth every penny IMHO.
