Please send two of your intervention specialists over to help me out!. Send some one to drink with me until the urge to buy a new gun passes. Send two big guys. My local gun store, Green Top Sporting Goods, the largest toy store on the east coast, is liquidating a cache of M-66 Smiths bought from a local Sheriff's office. They are selling the 2 1/2 inch barrels or the 4 inch barrels for $229.00!!! Please hurry and send two big guys or two very good looking females quick!!! I can't stand it!! HELP

Crap! When I saw the title to this thread, I thought that this was about some organization that would help me obtain firearms without my wifes knowledge.;)

She's got two of YOUR guys sitting here with me right now.:(

Thank goodness you didn't say the name of the town..... I can reach my car keys.... :)

What's that? Why no honey, I'm not buying any more guns..... crap. mumble, mumble.

Just buy one. Of each. You'll hate yourself if you don't. It's the cool thing to do. Everyone else is doing it.
Great price, too...lol. Peer pressure works.

Tell me where, or I'll just go to GT and go shopping.

Thanks for the info, I've been out of town.

I'm hungry, where should I eat?

John

I'm sorry but I must oppose anonomous gun buyers.

While I object to registration, I don't mind an ID requirement to prove age and residence.

Now grab your ID and go buy a couple of those M-66's before some other greedy grabber buys 'em all!!

I lost it. I tried as hard as I could but I've failed. I went to a hypnotherapist, consulted my pastor and called a crisis hot line. I was O.K. for a day, but the compulsion caught up with me.

I am proud to tell you that I only bought one. A 2.5 inch M-66-1 in pristine condition. Curiously, it had recessed cylinder holes, but the barrel was not pinned. $229.00 plus tax. I am proud of restraining myself and only buying one.

For any of you posters going up or down I-95, get off at the Elmont-Atlee exit just North of Richmond, go west a mile or so and the road dead ends at Green Top Sporting Goods. Green Top is one of the largest gun stores in the country and owned by a great bunch of guys. The toy selection is astounding!!

Someone asked where to eat? Jimmys Too! of course! Please come by and help me pay for some of my toys. Tonight I'm cooking steaks, veal chops, lamb racks, mahi, grouper, and seabass with jumbo lump crabmeat. Don't tell my wife behind the register that you saw this post.

good shooting

SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!

Don't you realize you broke up a pair when you only bought one?

Now march yourself right back there and by a mate for your M-66. Otherwise it will probably cry and keep you awake all night for weeks.

Doc Hudson :D

Doc Hudson,

You make me feel bad but I only have room for one more in the litter at this time. You may be comforted to know that the new 66 is nestled in the safe between model 65's and model 67's. Hopefully they will make the new littermate feel at home.

good shooting

Jay

Well, maybe it won't be too upset, but I still think you need to get one of it's littermates ASAP, just to be on the safe side. :D

I'm in Richmond a lot (even took my hunter's safety course at Green Tops). How many did they have left?
BTW, Can you send me a coupon for your restaurant? (I only spend my discretionary money on guns).

Aren't you happy we did NOT get you the help you needed to resist? Congratulations!

Do they have any Three-inch versions?
Or any Model 65s in three inch?

Best,
Johnny

Mad Scientist:

A friend bought one yesterday and said that they had 6 or 7 2 1/2 inchers left. Call Travis or Donnie at Green Top, they can give you a count. A year or two ago, the boss(my wife) caught me trading steaks for guns. We now have a tighter cash control system than anything the IRS could put in. But do stop by and introduce yourself. I spend most of the day and night at Jimmy's Too! next to Saxon Shoes, except for my twice weekly visit to Green Top.

Johnny Guest:

Regrettably there were no 3" 66's in this lot that the Hanover Sheriff traded in. Curiously, there was one 2 1/2 incher with a square butt. I may go to my grave looking for a 3" 66 at the right price with no paperwork. The 3" 65 is my favorite wheel gun. I have a salt and pepper pair, a M-13 and a M-65, both 3", both round butt, both with hammer spur ground down and identical action jobs by the same gunsmith. I am looking for the right matching grips to dress them up with.
The 3" M-65 is commanding a premium. Every used one I see at a gun shot is over $300. It seems that new ones are going in the 369-399 range locally. My penchant for buying stainless Smiths probably stems from the fact that I could not afford one for the first ten years they were on the market. Now they are cheap and I have a bigger allowance, I can't seem to buy enough. I'm now looking for another safe just for the stainless Smiths. The boss says she is going to have me committed if I keep buying guns. Some women just can't stand to see a guy having fun. When Virginia first enacted the "one gun per month" law, I had my wife convinced for almost a year, that you had to buy one gun a month to keep your elgibility. Boy, was she PO'd when she found out the real scoop on that miserable law.

shoot often and safely

Jay

Three-inch Sixty-Fives

jaysouth--
Thanks for the info. Nice try, though.

I share your affection for the 3" M65--and I think I know part of the problem. Couple of months ago, my old colleague and classmate Shurf Jim Wilson did an article in SHOOTING TIMES about an affordable semi-custom gunfighting rig, and based it upon a 3" 65. This probably had something to do with the current run on 'em.

I've been kinda looking for a 3" 66 round butt. Jim had TWO of these as personal guns last time I was out to see him and--can you believe it?--wouldn't even DISCUSS sharing the wealth. Heck, he wouldn't even talk about making me a decent PRICE on one.

Best regards,
Johnny
