www.ammunitionstore.com is selling 200 round cases of S&B 12 pellet buckshot for $45+shipping ($15 to my zip code). Is $60 a good price for 200 rounds of buckshot? Walmarts in my area do not bother to stock buckshot because its not legal for hunting, so I'm not quite sure what the market price is on a case of the stuff.

We got some at a gun show. Patterns very well (almost as well as Estate 8-ball) from IC choke 870. Patterns poorly from Modified choke on an 1187. Interestingly, because of the relatively low velocity, the kick is more gradual and less painful witht he 870 than from "tactical" 8-9 pellet loads. The report is also more muffled. Functioning has been 100% in both guns, and in friend's Auto-5. I like that ammo, though it smells bad once fired.

Went to Wal-Mart and got a box of 100 rounds of Winchester Universal Shotshells and 100 rounds of Federal Multi-Purpose shotshells. Each was $16. So, 200 shells for $32.

Being new to the shotgun world, I will be creating a post inquiring about ammo.

Cheap practice ammo is cheapest bought in bulk. At PGC, the Fiochhi stuff runs down to $35/case, and may be cheaper than that at times. Estate can be obtained sometimes for less, if one knows someone with a trailer full. Or, several buddies pool their resources and make a big buy pay off.

The cheapest ammo is home made. My used reloader paid for itself in a few weeks, and current cost per box is about $2.65 for a quality trap load.
